A large 216 page reference work. The jacket has a corner waterstain that show - but, the book really was protected by it and is in near fine or fine shape. No markings. Full color and large-size representations of men in unifrom in various gear.
A bit outdated at this point, the edition I have was published in 1988, but it was a nice overview of the equipment from various military forces around the world. Each entry includes a full page illustration, some pictures, and text related to the unit.
The artist I suspect had fun with his subject, as the Pakistan(i) Army illustration looks like Jamie Farr (Klinger to MASH fans) and the South African Defence Forces illustration bears some resemblance to Nelson Mandela.
A study of of the things that soldiers took to war at the time of publication, it covers the things that the soldiers carries to the battle rather than those items that take them into battle.
