I decided to hold off on writing a review until after I finished the series. I have to tell you.... WHAT A SERIES!!! I hated that it had to come to an end. There was no let up in this entire series. Each book was filled with drama, scandals, heartbreak, betrayal and more drama. These three sisters went through hell and back. Cassidy was the true definition of a woman not knowing her self worth. In the beginning, I really didn't care for her at all. She was weak and pitiful. I could never understand why any person would allow anyone to walk all over them and mistreat them the way Marcus did her. She allowed him to break her down to the last molecule. She was so broken that she turned her back on her own child. I think that's the part that I really couldn't handle. Then came Antoine and he breathed life back into her. He was exactly what she needed at the time. I liked the way she was smart enough not to jump right into a relationship with him. I loved how their relationship blossomed. They had their fair share of drama from their exes but they shook it off. Both exes, Angela and Marcus were crazy as hell. Cassidy did well in not breaking her foot off in Angela's ass, but I think because of the love she had for Leah, she didn't want to upset her anymore. Angela and Marcus got what was coming to them in the end.
China was my girl from the very beginning. She had her demons as well. Her drug habit nearly took over her life. China had a very hard time in dealing with the death of her boyfriend. She blamed his friend Clay for her boyfriend's murder. She hated Clay but I think deep down she knew he wasn't at fault. Just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Once she was able to forgive Clay and actually get to know him. She fell for him quickly as he did with her. I think they were my favorite couple of all. They had some epic battles that made you laugh. But they also endured some tragedies that broke your heart. Kena was Clay's pregnant baby's momma and she was a pain in the ass for China. Even with Kena acting the way she did, I felt so bad with what happened to her. That scene almost broke a grown man down. That caught me completely by surprise. In the end, China got everything she wanted and more. Of all the characters, she most definitely deserved to have a happy ending. I love her. LOL.
Ciara, SMH. Even by the end of the book, I still didn't like her. I think she got off way too easily. What she did to her own sister was unforgivable. But that just goes to show how far Cassidy had come as a person. She didn't give a damn about Marcus anymore and if Ciara was stupid enough to want to deal with him, she could have him. Cassidy forgave Ciara but it still took a while for Ciara to finally see the type of man Marcus truly was to the core. He had her so gone, that she was willing to do any and everything to keep him happy. Betraying her sister wasn't enough, I guess. Like I said, Ciara got off way to easy. She had a hand in almost ruining a lot of people's lives. I just wanted one time for Cassidy or Rayna to beat her ass. I know people deserve a second chance but for me, this is one second chance that I wouldn't be willing to give.
All of the secondary characters were great. Whether you liked them or not, they added to the greatness of this series. Pearl and Joe, I loved them. That damn Pearl was a "G"! You can tell where China got her personality from. She got it from her momma. Pam, I'm not sure how I feel about her. She was silly as hell. She was too old to be playing games. I mean, if you want lil dude, go get him. He tore her up and she couldn't handle it. LOL. Like I said earlier, I hated this series had to come to an end. I would love for them to pop up every now and then in another series in the future. Thank you P. Dotson for such a wonderful series. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.
