Mature audiences only and not for the faint of heart.

AND THEN HE combines sex and evil in all the right ways. Think "Bared to You" meets "Misery."

She certainly didn’t envision herself as a diner waitress serving giant slices of pie to diabetic townies. The best-selling author she planned to become now writing, “Hold the pickles.” Yet limited funds, monstrous debt, and a high school sweetheart with big league ambitions of his own force her to set aside her own dreams. She soon discovers loneliness is a seductive mistress.

Enter sexy stranger.

Tiffani spends most of the reunion with Jeb, a classmate she doesn’t even remember. He awakens a hunger in her that both frightens and excites her. Tiffani mistakes Jeb’s lifelong obsession for love at first sight and soon finds herself a prisoner, but it’s a hot, steamy trip to get there.

Kim once smashed into a tree while skiing. The accident led to a concussion, a cracked sternum, temporary notoriety as a sixth grader returned from the dead, and the realization that fictionalized accounts are way more interesting than just slipping on the ice.

An unhealthy obsession with conspiracy theories combined with a love of travel and happily ever afters led Kim to write her YA novel, Starr Fall, where a secret organization decides 17 year old Starr Bishop is not only the model student, but the ideal assassin. While in hiding, Starr meets dark, moody, and dead sexy Christian Evergood. Cue the swoon worthy music. But it’s not all happily ever afters for Kim. Her NA novel, And Then He, explores the dark and scary corners of the human psyche. Following a night of innocent flirting with a handsome stranger, Tiffani finds herself in the midst of a nightmare she can’t escape. And Then He is available now through Amazon and other major book retailers. Starr Fall will debut November 2016 with Inkspell Publishing, followed by Starr Lost in January 2017.

When she’s not doing something writerly, Kim can be found jumping into snow drifts with her three kids, husband, and dog. She’s careful to avoid trees.

This book was not a romance. It was dark. It was secretive, closely guarding all its secrets and only letting you see as much as the main character saw. Everything comes to you from Tiffani's point of view, and in the beginning, this was a little off putting. It felt a little jittery, like watching one of those movies made as if someone is holding the camera. It turned out to be the best point of view to really drag you in there, and make you one with the heroine. The condition of Tiffani really plays through during the reading. When she's drunk, the words seem drunk with her, and it was easy to see the world as she saw it. When she is being sedated, everything seems foggy and it's difficult to get a clear image of what is going on.

This book found me at the perfect time. I needed something more than sex and happily ever afters in my reading list, and this fit the bill to a T. It had a dangerous edge to it, where all the little things just keep adding up, and you know something isn't quite right. It has that off feel to it, that feel of apprehension for what is to come. You know it's heading to a dark place, and you really aren't sure that there's going to be a light at the end.

A few twists were predictable, and had me doing the "don't go investigate that noise!" horror movie shout. Even more of the twisting was as much a shock to me as to Tiffani. The way things, even from the very beginning, added up to create the bigger picture was masterfully accomplished. I spent the last 25% of the book reading desperately, wanting to know how it was all going to play out.

Don't read this book expecting convention. Don't read it expecting hearts and butterflies. It's a thriller, and it's dark, and it is amazing. ~ George, 4 stars

First off, this is not for younger audiences. This is not a romance in any way. Think along the lines of Stockholm Syndrome with a dark edgy theme. I like the way the reader could only perceive the same things as the primary character's viewpoint. Writing in this manner can put off some readers as it feels a bit disconnected at first, but as you continue to read you feel as though you are there with her, or in her mind. I found myself connecting with her and nearly feeling the same effects she endured as she tried to tell her story. I did feel a few decisions were rather predictable but it fit the character. I like the way the clues and bits of information are slowly provided in a natural way. While the writing may seem a bit rough around the edges, it makes perfect sense as you continue to read. Overall this is a well conceived and executed plot with a roller coaster ride you won't forget. I received an ARC through the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influenced my opinion, which may or may not mirror your own.

I loved this book!!!! It grabbed my attention right out of the gate & kept me turning page after page as quickly as I could. I like how at first you think maybe I'm supposed to ignore the obvious and things will go a different way? And then you realize that the obvious is what's happening but it's even more twisted than you thought it was going to be. I enjoyed the easy dialogue between Tiff & her best friend Cass and I thought the sexual tension was written perfectly. Anyone who likes a thriller with a bit of sexy will definitely enjoy this book. I highly recommend it!!!

I have never read anything by this Author and I was stunned by how good this book is. It is very dark a woman's worst nightmare brought to life. I very seldom rate a book 5 star. It must really touch me emotionally. I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this one especially that 2nd half. There were times I asked myself how stupid Tiff could be but I understood it better during the last few chapters. Overall it was a good read. I'm interested to see what else this author writes.

I was very excited to start this book. I'm a fan of dark reads and this one is dark. It's different than any other dark read I've read before. And Then He was interesting and I found myself asking a lot of questions I normally wouldn't.
Tiffany is just a normal girl trying to make ends meet. She's working a crap job she really doesn't like, in a small town, and her boyfriend is always gone leaving her by herself. I understood why she was so lonely. But the thing about Tiffany to me, she didn't always make the best of decisions. In fact, she seems to always be involved in some sort of mishap. Tiffany's character did frustrate me a bit. I wanted her to be stronger, and stand up for herself more than she did. I felt she was basically a door mat, and I hated that about her. I must say, she did surprise me in the ending. That I wasn't expecting at all.
There were times I figured out what was going to happen. I instantly knew something wasn't all "there" with Jeb. Especially when certain things began to happen I just knew he was either up to something or behind it all. I'm still not sure why Tiffany didn't pick up on Jeb's tendencies...Her best friend Cassie did, her dog certainly did...But then again Tiffany is lonely and Jeb is always there for her.
Even though I knew how the ending of the book would go, I still enjoyed reading this one. Like I said it is different than any other dark read I've read before and I liked the way it ended. Sort of felt it had to end that way. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something dark, and willing to read out of their comfort zone.

This is a great dark read. It has mystery, thrills, and an evil side you see only when the author wants you to see.
Tiffany is a waitress at a diner and has no funds extreme debt and a somewhat boyfriend. All the makings of finding Mr. Right. She goes to her class reunion and spends most of her time with Jeb, a classmate she doesn't even remember.
Every time he's around she feels good. She starts to realize this may be what she's missed out on until coincidences turn into reality.
She's pulled in so deep that it seems like until no more can go wrong she is destined to remain entrapped.
Jeb is complex and at times I second guessed he could really be truly evil. I loved it, it had all the makings of a dark read.

And Then He is not a romance by any stretch of the imagination. It explores the psyche of a disturbed young man, who does his best to fulfill his twisted fantasies regardless of the repercussions they set up in the real world. The main character, Tiffani, is a naïve girl looking for love and her desperate need to be wanted plays right into Jeb’s crazy.

Briggs has developed a long, chilling ride through torment, deprivation, and desire, and delivers a dark thriller with twists and turns that keep the reader turning the page. An excellent New Adult novel, from a determined young author, if you like dark thrillers, I highly recommend this one.

Tiffany shows up to her 5 year high school reunion alone since her boyfriend is too busy with his Minor league baseball team to be involved in anything she wants, and she feels like she has nothing to show for her life, since her dreams of being a writer have taken a back seat to her need to work a menial job to pay off bills. When the band begins performing, Tiffany is transfixed by the lead singer. When he approaches her to talk, she is blown away by how attractive he is, how in tune with her, how interesting he is. But when the night ends with her alone, and him gone, she is relieved that she can go about her life. But when a surprise encounter finds him at her diner in the middle of nowhere, it seems like fate brought him to her...

I have been following Kim Briggs for a while but I had not actually started any of her books, buying them and then hoarding them for when I had some free time to read. So when I stumbled across this title, which is so different sounding (and looking!) from her teen fantasy books, I was intrigued. I ended up sitting down one afternoon to read this story and blew through the pages, not putting it down until it was over. Keep in mind that even though the cover looks like it may be a Romance novel, I would never, ever classify this book as romance. Sure, there is some lust, like and even romancing here, but this is not a romance book. This was a psychological mess of a story, with twists and surprises at every turn.

I was so mad at Tiffany, not understanding how she could let her life spin so out of control and she was so weak (the part about her dog made me want to rampage, and the fact she never cared about her cell phone made me want to shake some sense into her) but then I sat and really analyzed how she got into this situation. She was lonely, stressed, tired and desperate for affection and here comes this oh so wonderful guy who caters to her every whim and seems to know all things she likes without her telling him...almost as if he is too perfect...hmm... When you have no one, it can be so easy to latch onto someone who cares so much. There were even moments where I caught myself thinking that Jeb is not a bad guy, maybe they could be happy together, regardless of his apparent obsession... and then reality would smack me on the side of my head.

I don't want to give too much away with my review, so this will be short and sweet, but this was a completely engaging, super messed up read and I sped through the pages, especially the last third of the book. It was crazy, and I had no idea how anything would end up, so I could not put down the story until I had some sort of conclusion. I liked the direction the end went, something I could never have predicted, but I did end up with some questions, but maybe that is part of the allure of the story, to leave you wondering.

Moral of the story here girls, listen to your bestie and your dog if they give you warning about someone, just saying.

This is the first book that I have read by Kim, but I can't wait to jump into her teen series Starr Fall and I look forward to any other adult psychological thriller she wants to create.
I received this title in return for my honest review.
