As a hard partying senior at Sacred Heart High School, Christa Nichols was used to people telling her she was bad at making choices. But when a car accident awakens her to the secret world of Angels and Demons, she realizes for the first time the weight her decisions truly have.

Now caught in the middle of a life-long rivalry between a classic-rock loving Guardian Angel and a Demonic club promoter, Christa won’t just need to use her wits to survive… she’ll need them to save her mother’s soul.

Lost Souls takes you on a journey through a world where Guardian Angels masquerade as the homeless and business-savvy Demons trade souls like they're on the NYSE.

Bursting with originality, Lost Souls entertained me with every flip (scroll) of the page! Jaros, in my opinion, did a wonderful job creating a Y.A with such a refreshing perspective of the roles between Heaven, Hell and those in between searching for redemption. In this story, the realm of Heaven and Hell the author had created was a rather diplomatic take instead of a constant struggling desire to gather the most souls. Especially a very special soul known as the Catalyst. Enter Christa, Daniel and Alden. I really enjoyed these three main characters. Along with the sub-characters, they were extremely well written and had clear defined personalities. Jaros fantastically developed the plot as well, ultimately creating a gripping read all the while shrouding the finer points of the plot in a mysterious fashion. It kept me wanting more, therefore, eagerly reading through the chapters. I can't wait to read the next one!

Not usually a fan of YA and Angels and Demons. That said, this book does offer a great read with likeable (or least relatable) heroes and villains. Like all characters, their flaws are what moves each of them forward. Ms Jaros also offers a modern take on what could have dropped into Gothic cliche. The mafia-like sybaritic crowd of demons is offset by the (although here he is named) "High Plains Drifter"-style male lead. The sense that the female lead is something very special makes you scream for her to get her act together...to get past her own barriers...but that must be left for the next book (due to release in October 2016). For those who are fans of "Coma," there is one eye-opening scene that shows the fertile imagination of the author.

LOST SOULS

Lost Souls is a great read and I enjoyed this book. I’m not a YA Reader normally, but this story drew me in. Christa is genuine, unapologetic and true to herself, but she also has a sweet side that she keeps mostly hidden, while Alden harbors resentments and Daniel has a few secrets. All three are well rounded characters, adding to the smooth flowing plot and the dynamics of this novel. The struggle between light and dark is enhanced by an intriguing line up of both good and pure evil characters. It’s all about Angels and Demons with a flair for suspense, mystery and fabulous world building. I was captivated from page one as the author kept me guessing and on my toes. I’m giving Lost Souls a 5 Star rating. Read it and you’ll be hooked. I eagerly look forward to the next book in the Lost Souls Series.
