What happens when two people from worlds as different as fire and ice come together?
Davina Lacey writes steamy, fun, and glamorous interracial romances that push the boundaries of the imagination and offers a unique and refreshing spin on classic love stories. When she isn't writing, she enjoys gardening, playing & composing music and spending a large amount of time gobbling up all things historical.
The Love & Alliances series is her Interracial Romance debut.
Love & Alliances is the first book in Davina Lacey’s Blasetti Boys series, and it’s an interesting start to the series. I went in expecting one thing, but, in the end, I was given something very different.
It’s a quick read, one that has plenty packed into it. Things moved quickly, with lots of things being introduced throughout to keep you turning the pages. It does end on a cliff-hanger, with quite a few details being left open, but as the start of the story this was a lot of fun.
All in all, Love & Alliances was an addictive start to the series.
If you are looking for a quick, spicy and fun read, I highly suggest Love & Alliances By Davina Lacey.
As a reader, I was instantly hooked into the story by the character Jenga’s wit and dry humor. Determined to make an aggressive move in her career (still as a student), Jenga’s drive and independence add to the qualities that attract both readers and the sexy Ashton to her. As Jenga’s story develops, there are plenty of steamy well written scenes along the way to keep the reader happy. The dialogue flows between Jenga and her college friends and we start to see cracks into some deeper layers they can definitely be explored within future books.
It’s worth noting that this is Davina Lacey’s first Interracial Romance she’s published. While she draws attention to the fact that Ashton and Jenga are a biracial couple, it’s not a contentious issue in this book. While her race and culture adds to Jenga’s beauty and character, watching Ashton crush over her is all the more exciting knowing that he is willing to work through any perceived complications that the writer *may* decide to develop in her future installments…Let’s hope Ms. Lacey continues this well written Blasetti Boys franchise.
I highly recommend this book as a fun hot read to anyone looking for a fun story that will get your heart beating for all the right reasons. I personally loved it, as did my husband 😘. #BestEndorsementEver

This was my first time reading anything from Davina and I LOVED IT!!!
I couldn't stop reading Jenga and Ashton's story! I really enjoyed how they met, the humour that was put into the book, all the sexy scenes that was put in, and just overall the writing style of Davina. The story line flowed very nicely, it wasn't confusing or anything along the way, and I loved how I connected to the characters right away.
So Jenga is a bit like me, an accident prone person, who can't swim! LOL!! So when she loses her camera in the ocean and Chris AKA Ashton saves her, it's the beginning of their story.
Ashton is smitten with Jenga and wants to see her again. But what is he hiding from her. Jenga needs a new job, and is offered one, but it's not exactly what she's looking for. Will she take it? Can she bring herself to do it?
Ashton is not who he presents himself to Jenga, and she finally founds out the truth. Can she get past that to be with him? What I really loved about Ashton's character is that Davina could have made him an asshole, but he's really not. Deep down he's a softie, and I loved that about Davina's writing style.
As much as Jenga doesn't want to have that pull with Ashton, the universe is telling her other things, and keeps throwing them in each other's way. I LOVE IT! She finally finds out who Ashton really is, but can she forgive him and get over it and continue their relationship?
Seriously though, this story was so great!!! I can't wait to read more from Davina.
Some of my fave quotes from the book
1. A group of people has gathered around, watching. Yay! Just what I need. To wind up on YouTube with the damaging evidence in my hand after almost drowning in the Pacific. - I love Jenga's sense of humour! She's like me, so accident prone!
2. "Developing a set of lady-balls should mean just as much to you as having sex. Perhaps more emphasis on the former aspect." - Ashton giving Jenga some advice. LOL!! I died laughing at lady-balls!
3. I find myself wishing I had brought my sunglasses as well because day-um this boy makes the word ripped sound too weak to describe him. - When they go on a date to the beach. LOL! Jenga cracks me up!
4. "Whatever." Kill. Me. Now. Please, before I lose my shit. - When Jenga and Ashton are discussing BIG things. Ashton has a bit of a big ego too LOL!
5. Oh, my Texas fuckin' Toast. I think I'll just hit the ground now." - When Jenga and Rose are discussing Ashton, and Rose sees him for the first time!
6. "There are other ways to please you." - When Jenga realizes they have no protection! LOL! This is what Ashton tells her. *Cue Swooning*
7. "Okay. So, he called your hooch a Lady Garden? For reals? God, I hope this man has brothers." - Rose and Jenga discussing things that had happened between her and Ashton previously. I lost it at Hooch!!! LOL!!!!
8. "Why are you doing this? I can give you money." - When the truth comes out about Ashton, and Jenga is working herself to death, and Ashton comes to help her again. Can she just take the money?
I started this story with a small excitement thinking that I have found another author to add to my good and fav author's list and although I am not quite there yet but I can say that this author is on my third to fourth pile list. This story started out so good, wonderful even; a sweet one that would just have been perfect to introduce this author but the way it ended took everything out. It was like how when you are listening to a song and you are feeling it until it get scratch out of the console type of disappointment. The whole beginning and all throughout the story was so cute, so fresh, so kind of a real life college (graduate school) and adult scene that I could taste and feel their HEA and boy was I wrong. Jenga was really sweet and naive. At one point, reading throughout this story, I really thought she was going to finally loose her innocence but come to find out she was not a virgin at all, but a very naive and gullible woman, very confusing (that should have been my first clue). Then Ashton was so nice and fresh, even though he was posing as someone else, but hey it's Hollywood, and although I prefer my man to be all badass and alpha, I thought he was going to finally show himself out and become that and claim his woman, boy was I completely on the other side of the fence on that ( should have been my second clue). Finally when I realized, a preferred interracial reader romance being more entertained by a white woman than the main heroine, I should have redirected myself ( should have been my third clue). So although it helped with having no grammatical errors or run on sentences ect..., this was really disappointing and a huge red flag!
A little love and lust in the sunshine. Who doesn’t like a California setting? As you can see by the blurb below, this romance is a bit unexpected for our heroine, Jenga. She is not looking for love. Nope, not at all. She just needs to make it through school and grab a good job.
The author can paint a very sexy male character. Oh my goodness. The descriptions of Ashton are very well done. I enjoyed the sparks and banter that flew between to two main characters. Books with believable tension are a bit tough to do. Lacey also sets up a fun combo of plot elements: the filming of porn-like soap operas and an incredibly rich family. Did I mention the sexy sons in this rich family…? Yes please!
What didn’t work for me was the clunky sentences. It seems a couple times per page I would be pulled from the interesting story due to loooong sentences. Twists, turns, odd dialog. Clunk. It’s almost as if the author didn’t use beta readers or critic partners. It was quite distracting and causes me to rate this title with only three stars.
The storyline is fun and sexy. I just think it needs to be run through a few rounds of edits. Find fresh eyes to take out the clunks.
When Ashton comes to Jenga's rescue he never in a hundred years imagined that he would be pulled in so much by her.
Jenga isn't looking for love. She just wants to graduate and find a good job. She is totally focused on her career. Then Ashton happens in her life and guess what, she is falling and not that slowly either.
This is a hilarious, funny, sweet and steamy read all at once. I specially liked the fact that Ashton inspite of being a jerk was actually a softie inside. However Jenga seemed overly innocent and naive to me. But hey, who am I to say anything? Even I've met people like her in real life. So yup no comments from me!
I loved their banter specially the way they both would try to one up another. Another thing is very good descriptions. The narrative is picturesque and flowy. It's an interracial romance but I really liked that the author did not make it the major issue. It just shows that come hell or high water Ashton will brave anything to be with Jenga.
Jenga gets pullled into a sleuth of new experiences when she meets Ashton, he however is looking to take some drastic action against his father. Hollywood may be a place of glamour but its underbelly is rife with corruption and deception. This was interesting, book 1 ends on a note that reading the sequel becomes necessary.
