Sno Ho/Life in Fusion

Sno Ho

Boone Daniels seems to have trouble finishing things. Along with the half dozen or so novels he's started, only to abandon mid-way through, his love life could be best described as a series of drive-bys. Boone has spent the past week staying at a ski lodge in the tiny mountain town of Summit City. He's been using his time alone to write while waiting for his boyfriend to join him for their anniversary. What happens to Boone when he winds up dumped on the eve of his one-year anniversary and ends up at a bar having one too many cocktails? Wade Walker.

Life In Fusion

Aspiring author, Boone Daniels, always figured love would be as easy as he was. Fresh off a whirlwind winter-vacation romance with ski-god and would-be boyfriend, Wade Walker - Boone was certain that saying goodbye would be the hardest part. He'd survived the unconventional way in which they came together, proven himself somewhat worthy to Wade's hometown of Summit City, and felt certain the self-imposed, six month boy-buffer would prove one thing - their fate was to be forever entwined. Once real life settles in, Boone suffers the realization that no one ever actually said love was easy and that even after you fall, you can still break. As their two worlds collide, he begins to understand that if he can navigate the landscape of life in fusion, he just might get that happily-ever-after...after all.

If you’re looking for a light hearted, funny, low-angst romance Ethan Day’s Sno Ho/Life In Fusion (the two book collection of his Summit City series) delivers everything you could hope for. The characters are likable and charismatic and have great sexual chemistry. Sno Ho ends in a bit of a cliffy and you’re going to want to delve right into the sequel Life In Fusion to see how it all works out, so I recommend you just plan to read them back to back.

Having been unscrupulously dumped by his wealthy boyfriend, Boone Daniels is left to enjoy their romantic ski vacation by himself. The story opens with Boone waking up in a strange bed, confused and hungover, as he tries to remember the night before. Day does a fantastic job setting up Boone’s character as bits of the night before start to come back to him. He’s funny and sexy and sweet, and my heart went out to him as he ponders why he isn’t more upset by his recent breakup.

So Boone decides to make the best of it and take advantage of the week’s vacation and everything his ex had arranged (and paid for). In keeping with Boone’s consistent good luck, his drunken hookup from the night before turns out to be his ski instructor.

Wade Walker is tall and built and gorgeous - oh, and cocky as hell. He’s always gotten exactly what he wants and winning ten Olympic medals has just added to his huge ego. It also serves to make him cautious of guys who just want to be with him for his fame. Poor Wade is just waiting for Mr. Right to come along, well not idly waiting, but you get the idea.

Newly single (again) Boone is reluctant to get seriously involved in another relationship that’s “all heat and no substance” but as the week goes by, and these two can’t get enough of each other, Boone is forced to do some soul searching and examine his past relationships. He wonders if he was purposely choosing the wrong guys and how much of himself he gave them to begin with.

Boone’s a happy guy, he’s strong and confident with loving parents and great friends. (Even if his friends do call him slutty, he makes no excuses for loving sex and knows he deserves to find love too!) Maybe if he opens his heart and gives Wade a chance, they could make a life together…?

One of the high points of Sno Ho/Life In Fusion for me is Boone’s constantly running inner monologue. He’s hilarious and kept me laughing through the whole book. I enjoy his expressive description of the little mountain town of Summit City, Colorado. The characters who live in this small skiing village are colorful and big hearted, and the way Day paints the scenes evoke images of an Alpine Mayberry.

The supporting cast is full of interesting characters, especially when we get to meet Boone’s family and friends. They all have so much fun together, and humor permeates this book. The sex is also hot as hell, these two are great together and Ethan Day writes a mighty fine romance (Wade’s dirty talk is spectacular).

Going through this journey with Boone touched me more than I expected. Writing from Boone’s point-of-view, Ethan Day delves deep into why Boone can’t truly commit to a relationship. We also get to know Wade, how a determined and focused Olympic champion gets what he sets his sights on. If you’re in the mood for a story that’s clever and funny, with scorching hot sex and some sweet and tender feels, then the Summit City series is sure to be right up your alley!

What a bawdy kick these stories are! Filled with life and laughter and disastrous destruction of any and all boundaries, these characters are drenched in personality and literally exude from the pages. Can you not see Boone Daniels in all his bubble butt glory?

Ethan Day has created quite a character in Wade Walker, former Olympic athlete and favorite town son; he’s also created a wonderful character in the town and people of Summit City, Colorado that completely comes alive on the pages of this book, and it’s pure magic when Boone Daniels lands there.

Boone is a lot of TALK, and he’s really cute, but OMG he’s a smart a$$. I know! Wade was much nicer to him than I would be! He’s very funny but sometimes he goes a little too far–we all know one of those, right? His penchant for starting novels and losing direction in the middle is fine for him but leaves others wishing he might have more…erm… direction. When his latest lover sends him off for their anniversary trip and instead of joining him, dumps him by phone, he’s more irritated than anything. He’s being fobbed off with an expensive sports vacation? Plus, after hooking up with a well-hung hottie the night before, he’s in no mood for skiing lessons. But Boone’s got more to learn about than skiing when he hits the lodge.

Wade’s got to put up with a lot of attention and politics being the hero and golden son of Summit City, but he also gets a lot of perks. Like having the entire town working to find him a partner, even if his ideal partner is another man. They don’t care, they just want him happy. When Boone realizes he’s not just dating a man but is competing in the town lottery, it’s a lot of pressure for him. He’s never finished one of his novels and now he’s competing for an Olympian?

But when Wade wants something, he usually gets it, so Boone had better get ready. Because it appears that Wade’s got his eye on him!

I loved these two campy, vividly drawn characters and I’m talking about Boone and the town. Wade was a great character but what came across so strongly to me was Boone and then the collective townsfolk. Wade was always there to run interference but it really ticked me to see how Boone got taken over by this bunch. In the first book, Sno Ho, you get the beginning of their relationship, which happens during Boone’s extended vacation in Summit City. I really loved the story line punch of this one. It had all the elements of the story packed into a funny and sweet love story that took a chance on two very different men. A definite must-read.

Then, in Life in Fusion, you get the happily ever after. Or at least the trip to getting there. The scenes are hysterical and I won’t spill the beans about Boone’s parents, but just know I adore them. They steal every scene they’re in for me and explain why Boone IS Boone.

Funny, sweet, naughty and nice. Everything a reader could wish for on her list to Santa. Perfect! Thanks
