Very much like other popular books out there- adventure, mixing fantastical elements with real life, searching for lost treasures, stuff like that. Lots of fun, action, mystical artifacts, evil secret societies! Kids that like Fablehaven, Percy Jackson, and that type would probably like this.
But, I actually had a hard time getting into this for a couple reasons. First, slightly choppy writing and dialogue. The timing on the speech and actions just seemed off. Almost too much dialogue and not enough action, especially in the beginning.
Also, slightly unbelievable. No government agency, even a secret one, is going to ask middle school kids for help. Yes, they have a success record, but just very unbelievable.

Overall,okay but not fantastic. Depending on the kid, they might enjoy it, or might crave something better.

A great, fast paced treasure hunting adventure for ages 10-14....There were some minor editing issues, but nothing that distracted me from the story. I would have liked a little more character development (perhaps this occurred in the first two books), and things got a bit violent about halfway through the story which I was not expecting. Despite these few flaws, I had a great time reading about the children's journey. I loved how McCartney uses history and myths in a way that will spark a child's interest and imagination. Overall, I enjoyed this book and will be saving it to read with my son when he gets a little older.

I won a signed copy of The Treasure Hunters Club's third book 'The Search For Excalibur' by Sean McCartney in a Goodreads giveaway. For a Middle Grade Novel it was pretty good. There were a few typos and he could have fact checked a few details (like his claim that the Incas didn't have a formal language or that Hammerhead sharks would be attracted to sound and try to bite humans, both not accurate). It had adventure, young teen heroes, an evil nemesis and plenty of magic. Kids interested in Arthurian Mythology would likely really enjoy this book.

Won this in the giveaways and I have to say that this is the reason I enter the giveaways. I probably wouldn't have bought this myself but I'm more than happy with the fact I got it and now I know I should have bought it. I will also say that the reviews are pretty right on, I saw a few editing errors, but the fact that the 3rd book is a on stand alone status is a plus. Totally thinking about the first 2 books and rereading the 3rd.

Won on Goodreads, this is a good book for 10-14 year old children and third book in the series of the The Treasure Hunters Club. You can read this without reading the first two, but some of the characters are better established in the first two. There are twelve treasures that must be found, so look forward to more from this author.
