This work gives some autobiographical context to the immense creativity that sprung from inner suffering. Rilke's life is of prime importance to fully understanding his symbols, and so this work is an excellent tool for better reading Rilke.
This being said, it is still best to experience the grace of Rilke from the source first, virginally, before sifting it through this sieve for deeper interpretation.
