Ok, so having been born and raised a Texan, there is nothing to be learned in this book for the average Texan. However, for anyone traveling to this great big state, this is the travel book you need to get (latest edition though), the other needs to be any book highlighting little known places off the beaten path. As for where to stay, and where to eat, do not use this book! It is not comprehensive for lodging and restaurants, so use word of mouth by locals for the best places to eat. The only thing to also warn those coming to this state, drive defensively. Everything is bigger in Texas, including the way we drive and it's not as friendly as you might think.
