Samuel Raphael Abt was an American sports journalist and author who covered professional cycling for 31 years, publishing articles in the New York Times and International Herald Tribune, among others. He devoted much time to chronicling the careers of English-speaking riders, especially Lance Armstrong and Greg LeMond.
Told in Retrospect (Which isn't always the best). Its easy to like Greg Lemond and to be inspired by his comeback (he did have great determination). He would have been a good man to have on your side.
Though I did get the impression he would have moved practically anywhere to get an extra cent on his contract. He did break down the barriers for the English speakers in the European or French world of Cycling.
The book is now 30 years old and in some ways it took me back to that era, though I wish some of the writing style had a little more drama and excitement.
If you like Greg Lemond, this book would be a worthwhile read, it didn't take me more than a few days to read.
