For Deborah Fletcher Mello, writing is as necessary as breathing and she firmly believes that if she could not write she would cease to exist. Her first novel, TAKE ME TO HEART, earned her a 2004 Romance Slam Jam nomination for Best New Author. Sisters Camille and Zina Martin couldn't be more different. Camille has always been the obedient, dutiful daughter, while Zina, the (artist) and free-spirit, angered her father by marrying a man, Antione Foggo, she'd known for two days. Convinced she'll never find that kind of passion, Camille puts her energies into building her sister's art career and expanding her own (art gallery), but everything changes when she discovers Zina's new father-in-law is Bermudian sculptor Vincent DeCosta. A chance encounter with him in college inspired her to change her major to Art History. Vincent has a youthful exuberance that belies his years and the experience to know that Camille is the woman he's been waiting for-if he can convince her to take a chance on him and follow her heart for once. And as she and Vincent face a dark secret from her father’s past, her father is the man who killed a cop and Vincent’s brother and ran leaving a young Vincent to languish in jail. Her father convinces her that he is using her to get revenge on him. They'll discover a love powerful enough to overcome every obstacle in its path...

It is also a difficult read, as was the previous book, because of excessive typographical and grammatical errors which consistently interrupt the flow.

Two sisters who couldn't be more opposites. Zina is the older sister but is a daredevil. She decides to marry a man after knowing him for 2 days. Camille is the younger sister, but is more reserved and always does what her father wants. While working, she runs into Victor DeCosta, 22 years older and happens to be her sister's father in law. There are sparks between the two, but a family secret involving her father and Victor could change everything. A very good read and I enjoyed it.

I remembered this story 14 years later. It is/was that good. Used chatgpt to find it for me again. I checked it out from the library 14 years ago. Can’t wait to reread it.

This story tells of the birth of love between an older man and a younger woman, who meet after the sister marries the older man's son. Gives a whole new meaning to family tree. The sister in law becomes the step mom, who has a baby and is a granddaughter, aunt, and step sister all at the same time. Talk about confusing family dinners. I gave this book a 4*

A great read

I enjoyed the story of Camille and Vincent.. it was interesting got me that he was much older than her but that didn't change the way they felt about each other.. if you want a love story that has lots of romance, secrets, family, and love this is the book for you

I koved it. It made me laugh, cry and shake my head, Zina was head strong but lived her life with passion. Csmille is a good businesswoman but tends to seek approval from her father.
I truly enjoyed this story and it's definitely one that I will read again. Love, secrets and family.
