A faithful grandson seeks to find help for his blind grandfather. When the old man finally opens his eyes, he sees a painting on the wall before him and realizes that this is the very house where he buried a wealthy man's inheritance fifty years ago. To their surprise, much more is found than merely earthly treasure!
Johann Nepomuk Christoph Friedrich von Schmid was a writer of children's stories, educator, and Roman Catholic priest. His stories were very popular and translated into many languages. His best-known work in the English-speaking world is The Basket of Flowers (Das Blumenkörbchen).
A collection of three short stories that are good for younger children. The first deals with a family suffering financial loss but still trying to be kind, the second with a young lady trying to be good after the death of her parents, and a young lady trying to overcome her forgetful nature.
This was a total find at a thrift store! We love Christoph von Schmid books. This was a truly great read aloud for the family that we read after church...krb 8/4/19
