When I was a child, I would sit in the church captivated by the calming resonation of chanted prayers. It provided a great sense of comfort to me—like leafing through a well-read leather-bound book. This was the first inkling I had of the place where my heart belonged—the Catholic Church. As the years passed, no one would have known that my bright childhood would take a turn towards a seemingly dark and isolated future. There were many times when I skirted death—birthing complications and multiple emergency surgeries stemming from malformed blood vessels in my brain. What had saved me at these moments, were miraculous chance happenings that came at times when I prayed the hardest for them. I lost a great many things—my balance, my gift for math and sciences, my visual clarity and my short term memory. It was a heavy burden that I still carry today. Even so, I knew that it was not the end… God must have had other plans for me. I was still here and there was a child that counted on me. I attained a Bachelor’s degree in a prestigious Wisconsin university and found myself anew. If there is one thing I believe with conviction, it is that everything happens for a reason and that He has a plan for each and every one of us. Allow me to recount the memory of these miracles with you.
Beth Durkee is an American author and inspirational personality. She specializes in short reads for the Christian market that bring awareness to God’s quiet callings and His whispered presence in our daily lives. Her message is that life is often hard, but God is with us through it all and her books have warmed the hearts of readers worldwide.
Although this is primarily a book about religion and faith helping out in the life of the author, this is also an engaging tale about a woman battling a potentially terminal illness that kills many people. Her faith comforts her in her times of need, and you have to appreciate that someone can cope in such terrible times by turning to religion. Granted, I’m not a religious person, and ordinarily wouldn’t read this sort of book, but it is written in a witty and likeable way that will appeal to even the biggest atheist on some level.
Thank you to the author for an e-copy in exchange for an honest review. Throughout the years I have spent reading, there is always this one issue that pops back up every now and then. The dilemma of being a practicing Muslim reading a book based on Christianity. It would be wrong to say that I have a problem with it, because I don't. It is a humble experience to read the idea of God through someone else's eyes, be it a different God and the same one. And it is also surprising to see how everyone's religion, at its core, is so similar to everyone else's. What made me like this book the most was the author's connection of every event to God's will. Knowing and believing that God is watching over you is the basis of a religion and it is refreshing to have someone re-strengthen that idea. There are more people nowadays who attribute events to coincidences rather than to God's plan and it's nice to know that there are firm believers every where in the world. This book can be easily understood and enjoyed by everyone, making it one that has convinced me to give other books by the author a try.
As one of Author Beth's Beta readers before anyone else that was open to the public to download on Amazon and other websites for to be launched I read her latest book from draft copies chapter by chapter entitled the Memory Of Miracles A Memoir A Testimony. It is an awesome book that has like many others that she's written a book that you simply refuse to have put down it doesn't matter whether your reading and have to go out or if your reading and it's lunchtime and you have to have lunch or a hot drink guaranteed you will take the book into the kitchen and most probably trip over something that's on the floor loll near the kitchen or bash yourself into the door hehehehe. no more lolls or joking around back to the book review.
As iv'e said above the book is one that just cant be put down. it's a personal beautifully and professionally written Autobiography of the Author's Life and how GOD Came into her life Pouring Precious Miracle blessings along the way for the greatest biggest Miracle of all her Life. and I'm so glad that he did because I would never have met such an Awesome Person Favourite Author Sister and Friend in my Life see in giving Beth The Miracle he also gave me a Miracle in Beth Her books and Her Friendship and as a fellow Christian too. like all of Author Beth Durkee books they are of a very unique and a very high standard.
I would recommend this book to the new believer the atheist and also anyone who has never seen miracles happen in their lives and also to those that are sceptical
Well written story of a young girl's journey from 3 years old to adulthood. She survived the unimaginable in her young life - 3 strokes before she was 18 years old yet through faith, belief in a power larger than doctors and blind determination, she went on to finish college. Amazing!!!
My goal in writing these short eBooks that open my life to everyone's scrutiny is to share with people just how truly present God is in the lives of His children, even in our modern age. We do not always hear or understand but He is not silent. He is very present, very real and very conscious of each of us. We just need to learn how to watch and listen for His guiding love so that we can better understand how to turn in the right direction to reach for the blessings He wishes to bestow upon us.
My hope is that those who read my life stories are blessed by them enough to find them worthy of sharing with others.
