About the author

Gary Meffe is a zoologist with a Ph.D. from Arizona State University and expertise in evolutionary ecology and conservation biology. He co-authored major textbooks on conservation and ecosystem management and served as Editor-in-Chief of Conservation Biology. Now living in Vermont, he has also published two popular books celebrating small-town life.
