Sometimes you do come across the books that are written not just to entertain but to give you an insight of the mater which is totally unknown to you. ‘Anything to look hot’ by Jas Kohli is one of those categorical books. The main motive of writing this book was not just to give you a ‘Masaledar’ story but to let you to know the life of plastic surgeon, through his own words.

Jas Kohli, by profession is himself a plastic surgeon so he knows exactly what he’s writing. Anything to look hot is a story of a person who steps up as a surgeon in the industry that works to beautify the world by using medical miracles. He falls in love with his junior who herself is ambitious about her profession. Jas Kohli, through his protagonist explains the life of lime light and also touches the emotional strings of different relationships such as (that I liked the most) father-son relationship. The author, beautifully explains and narrates the story of that lovely relation.

The problem with the book is that it picks up the pace pretty slowly. After about 30 to 40 pages, you’ll understand that the book is something different. It may or may not suit your choice of reading. The book goes a lot more deep into the technicality sometimes that may irritate you and you can end up skipping pages.

The beauty of the book is that it will introduce you to the world that is totally new to us. We haven’t heart lot about the industry of ‘Hotness’. We don’t know anything about plastic surgeons (ignoring the basic knowledge). Their lifestyle is totally different from ours and that’s the key point of this book. Jas Kohli do have some surprises in his book as well, that you would not expect in the first 50 to 60 pages but it does enhances your overall experience of the book.

Do pick up the book only if you seriously want to read something totally unknown to you. If you are picking up this book for entertainment, you may end up getting disappointed.

'Anything to look' hot is a medical fiction written by Jas Kohli who happens to be a Plastic Surgeon.
The book contains the candid confessions of a plastic surgeon named Dhruv Khanna about the terms and turns in his life from the day he attained Plastic Surgery as his specialized field.
The book wraps in it's pages the story of Dhruv and his journey from a simple medical intern to Mumbai's top plastic surgeon. From perfectionist seniors to arrogant patients, falling in love to getting married, being insulted to being appreciated, professionalism to raging desires, Dhruv deals with them all .
The book features the dedication of a medico to his work and the lunacy among people to own bodies moulded into perfection , even if it's the doctor's needle which does the moulding.
The book is a diet of drama with a tinge of humour for the readers.
While most of the books feature a patient and depict their feelings, 'Anything to look hot' is written by the point of a doctor and the change in his mindset along with the change in the surrounding environment.
The editing is appreciable and the language used in the book is proper and upto the mark of expectation.
Ratings - 3.8 out of 5 stars.

The book will interest only a particular section of readers and might be a work of boredom for others. People who have admired or aspired to be a doctor atleast once in their life will be ones who will find the book appealing .
The storyline turns at bit dull in the middle.

The book is an informative fiction and despite the minor flaws is a good read.

When a professional person, decides to write about his/her profession, you can expect something as good as ‘Anything to look hot’. Jas Kohli is professional a plastic surgeon himself and with his debut write up, he had tried to put forward the life of a plastic surgeon in front of his readers. His protagonist, Dr. Dhruv Khanna, is a young plastic surgeon and with his first foot into the profession he started wondering about various things that each plastic surgeon must have gone through in his/her life. How far can a person go to retain the looks they had, or wish to have; how a doctor can fall in love with patient even knowing the consequences and many other things.

The book starts up pretty slow but soon picks up the pace as the author gets used to with the theme and start to pour the insight over the reality of the business. Being a debutant, author had shown promising writing skills, the way he had described the character of Dhruv and his lady love Nandini is something to look forward in the book.

Some of the scenes that the author had described are thought provoking and the way the author had put forward the whole book is something that leaves an impact over the heart of the reader.

The only drawback with the book is that the author has gone pretty deep in describing the business of plastic surgery and had made the whole book look like an autobiography. The fiction part lacks. But overall the book has come up with something new in the market.

Plot: When the hotshot diva of the previous decade wouldn't like to play the legend's mom on screen, she demands that she be reshaped into the sexiest lady on the planet… by any methods.

This is only one of the numerous odd circumstances which plastic specialist Dr. Dhruv faces in Mumbai. He has managed oppressive supervisors and finicky patients while experiencing his preparation, amid which he has likewise won over a shocking specialist as his life accomplice. Be that as it may, fulfilling the motion picture stars is an alternate ball game, in light of the fact that each young lady wishes to have botoxed lips, and each person needs to display a six-pack stomach area without working too hard. And this while, he needs to oppose losing his equalization over his bewitching female customers. Dr. Dhruv’s voyage surpasses even a masala motion picture for diversion, dramatization and activity. In exposing numerous a myths about corrective surgeries, the book will enchant the individuals who can do anything to Look Hot.

My thought on this Story: As this story is about Plastic Surgery it gives peruses another experience and it is a treat to peruse who like Medical Fiction. Book Cover of the story is appealing and makes it a moment pickup.

Dialect of the story is straightforward yet alluring. It stays away from the befuddling sentences and ties the consideration of the peruses.

Story additionally lets us know about the wild yearnings of the on-screen characters and performing artists about their looks. Creator has additionally highlighted the social issues confronted by North-East Indians.

At first, it is difficult to get with the pace of the book as the entire idea is minimal new for a peruse yet after 30-40 pages, the story gets to be fascinating and you need to know the part of restorative specialists in our therapeutic framework. Creator offers numerous experiences furthermore gets to be philosophical on occasion to clarify the work of these experts. He additionally doesn't bashful in telling that frequently plastic specialists fall for their delightful patients even in the wake of being hitched and destroy their family life. He additionally talks about how on-screen characters and performing artists once in a while have fits while now and again stay over-accommodating as they would prefer not to uncover that they have been under blades and scissors. Additionally numerous myths with respect to the surgery has been cleared through the straightforward story that creator have picked as the medium to dispel any confusion air.

Dr. Palmer's funny talks, Dr.Dhruv's charming Nandini, the way Murari helps Dhruv, these are a percentage of the favorite Scenes of the story.

I truly preferred the way the writer writes in a simple way. I likewise preferred the characters however a couple of them felt so genuine that they truly appeared to be enlivened from genuine living. The effortlessness of the plot with simply the right dosage of dramatization and masala adds to the diversion remainder of the book. Jas keeps it straightforward and that is only the way I like it in addition to there is a sure excites in perusing about each one of those nose occupations and liposuctions. The book keeps up an unfaltering pace all through and makes for a simple read, very feasible in a three-four hour period

Story contains a touch of sentiment and funniness yet is a direct story and needs wanders aimlessly. A few procedures are in subtle element which the greater part of the peruses can't get it.

I love the style of writing and the content.

My score will be 4/5

About the Author: Dr JAS KOHLI

Dr Kohli is a Plastic Surgeon by profession, and that reflects in his book too. A wonderful piece of work made me re-think my perceptions about Doctors. Doctors and that too Doctors working in the Government Hospitals, to my understanding are over-worked people with grey hairs, bordering to crazy kind of an attitude. However, Dr Kohli is definitely set on a mission to change the attitude of people like me towards people like him.

In the words of the author, “If I can demystify plastic surgery and bring the doctors and the patients closer, I would be more than happy.” . RIGHTS RESERVED

So, let us move on to the book quickly to get an insight into whether he has been able to use his profession to bring his readers closer to the doors of the Plastic Surgeons or not.

The Book Blurb:

When the superstar diva of the past decade doesn’t want to play the hero’s mother on screen, she insists that she be reshaped into the most beautiful woman in the world…by any means.

This is just one of the many odd situations which plastic surgeon Dr. Dhruv faces in Mumbai. He has dealt with tyrannical bosses and finicky patients while undergoing his training, during which he has also won over a stunning doctor as his life partner. But satisfying the movie stars is a different ball game, because every girl wishes to have bee-stung lips, and every guy wants to flaunt a six-pack abdomen without working too hard. And all this while, he has to resist losing his balance over his ravishing female clients. Will he be able to become the don amongst the plastic surgeons of Mumbai, or return back to his home town? Dr. Dhruv’s journey surpasses even a masala movie for humour, drama and action. In debunking many a myth about cosmetic surgeries, the book will enthrall those who can do Anything to Look Hot.

Reader’s point of view:

When I got this book for review alongwith other books, I kept it for the last, thinking that this must be confessions of a Doctor, as the tagline says “Candid Confessions of a Plastic Surgeon”, and who is interested in reading the confessions of a Surgeon.

But this Doctor, or should I say a part time author, rather he should be called a Part Time Astronomer , a part time bird watcher,... and the list is endless. He is truly a creative persona with a superb wit.

My Take:

A wonderful book, which will not allow you to keep it aside till the last page. The author is well versed with his subject, and his writing skills make him a wonderful author covering all the aspects of his wide range of experiences in an interesting manner. Its a novel which takes through the world of plastic surgery through the eyes of its protagonist Dr Dhruv, which seems to be the alter-ego of the author himself. The story begins when he gets the degree of a Plastic Surgeon and through his busy schedule meets his better half. Being a lady, I appreciated the fact that although his profession guaranteed him beautiful clients, he never strayed even when the protagonist and his wife were living in different cities for three complete years. The Doctors always have to take their success with a pinch of salt. I observed that in parts, the author was overtaken by the Doctor in him, which is why, too much of details could not be ignored.

Cover Page:

A beautiful cover page, which could have been better designed.

Publishers:

This one is published by my favourite Publishers, SRISHTI PUBLISHERS. Really hats off to them for taking on new authors with such diverse range.

It had been a long time since I read a book published by Srishti Publication, one of the publishing houses which taught me to read books, before I picked up "Anything to look hot" yesterday night. The book is written by the debutante- Jas Kohli who has tagged this book as "Candid Confessions of a Plastic Surgeon". The cover page is interesting and makes you pick it up once to check out what it is really about even in case you are not interesting in buying any book on that particular day. The book is definitely different and reading about the life of someone about whom we haven't read much and very few of us have any acquaintances with any plastic surgeon has been a very fresh air between all the love stories and character-based tales.

Jas Kohli have written the book in a simple language and in the same flow without ranging the intensity with the scenes. As a plastic surgeon himself, he knew more than anybody else and therefore, you will feel that you are reading 60% autobiography and 40% fiction. It has been magnificent that author have kept the story based on the clinic life of the doctor itself and still manages to make his reader complete the whole book without getting bored. The characters are also developed beautifully and you can relate with each one of them. I just felt that author didn't describe many scenes which were worth a wonderful read and he have confined many good scenes in just few sentences. Also, I didn't find the conversations interesting. Whenever author tells a story, it's impressive but whenever he shares the conversation between the characters, you find it forced and boring.

Initially, it is hard to pick up with the pace of the book as the whole concept is little new for a reader but after 30-40 pages, the story becomes interesting and you want to know the role of medical surgeons in our medical system. Author shares many insights and also becomes philosophical at times to explain the work of these professionals. He also doesn't shy in telling that often plastic surgeons fall for their beautiful patients even after being married and ruin their family life. He also discusses how actors and actresses sometimes throw tantrums while sometimes stay over-friendly as they do not want to reveal that they have been under knives and scissors. Also many myths regarding the surgery has been cleared through the simple story that author have chosen as the medium to clear the air.

Coming to the drawbacks- I felt the author could have made this book more happening and humorous as the theme allowed it easily but author chose to keep it too serious. As I have mentioned above, the conversations are powerless and few good scenes at which reader feels that he is about to read a sensational stuff, it gets over within a paragraph itself. Author could have easily turned this book into a thriller. It had the capacity. And I felt it little underwhelming as Nandini, wife of protagonist, is almost sidelined after the marriage as she has been one of the interesting characters of this book, you wish to read more about her. Even the daughter isn't discussed much. That's all. I give this book 3.5 (3 for the book and 0.5 for the new concept) stars out of 5 and it's definitely readable. Go For It! It's something new.

Thanks.

"Anything to Look HOT" is a book authored by Dr. Jas Kohli who is a plastic surgeon by profession. This is the 11th book I'm reviewing and I must admit, it's by far the most entertaining book that I have come across. Let me start with its 'blurb'. Following is mentioned there: 'Dr. Dhruv's (the protagonist) journey surpasses even a masala movie for humor, drama and action.' Let me tell you that all three ingredients are really there in the book and that too bagfuls. From start (the TITLE, doesn't it get to you?) to finish, this is a blockbuster ride of an intelligent person who lives his life to the fullest while catering to the love, affection and demands of all his near and dear ones. This is a person who knows his trait and profession very well and though we see him being very crafty in his work, he never misses an opportunity to learn. He gets to work in that dreamy world which we call 'Bollywood' and he is well aware of the secrets that it possesses and which he cannot afford to let go off to outside world. He is a very learned doctor, an obedient son, a lovely husband (who doesn't go astray even while working with all the leading damshells of Tinsel Town) and a caring father. And while being all that, he narrates a story as fascinating as one could hope for finding in a Bollywood Superhit. There is no doubt that Dr. Jas Kohli writers from experience for he lets us know about all the nitty-gritty of plastic surgery with surgical precision. Liposuction, implants, birth-defects and face-reconstruction surgeries are some of the plastic surgery jargons that have been tossed around frequently and they add 'gravity' to the plot of this book. Many a times readers come across a book that recounts a medical or legal drama but it fails to induce emotions in them for when it goes in detail to discuss its intricacies regarding its field of study (or plot), it goes in too deep. Here Dr. Kohli very intelligently picks up only those popular terminologies who are in vogue and thus succeeds triumphantly.

Secondly, there are various subplots in the book that are engaging. Seamless movement from one subplot to another adds fast pace to it and a reader never feels bored. Thirdly, dialogues of this book are just pure fun. Never for a moment, they fail to impress. If I call them humorous, that will be an understatement. They are worthy of causing a laugh-riot. Last but not the least, there is not a SINGLE grammatical mistake in this book which is simply unbelievable. As of late I have come across so many books with pathetic grammatical limp that they sometimes compel you to review the decision of opting for this profession but this book is an amazing success story on that front. Credit must go to both the author and his publishing team at Srishti Publishers. It's a genuine entertainer I'm talking about here, ladies and gentlemen and thus I shall be assigning it my maximum rating. A page-turner in realest of senses!!!!

Book Title: Anything to Look Hot
Author Name: Dr.Jas Kohli

No. Of Pages:196

"Anything to Look Hot" is written by the debutante- Dr.Jas Kohli with a tagline "Candid Confessions of a Plastic Surgeon". It describes the insight of medical profession of a plastic surgeon. This is a totally new concept in fiction. Hence this story is more of a real life incidents of the author rather than fictious which is a plus point attracting the readers.

Plot: The story is about Dr.Dhruv Khanna who is a Plastic Surgeon by profession. It is one of the odd situations that a Plastic Surgeon faces. At the same time dealing with tyrannical bosses and finicky patients he also won a stunning doctor as his life partner. Positives and Negatives:
The language is simple and classy.
The book cover is cheesy and attractive.
Detailed terminologies of medical terms, Medical lovers would love it.
Limited humour but lack of dynamic romance.
Storyline is straightforward with no twists and turns.
Initially starting some pages one may find boring but it catches the track later on.
Good description of many ful filled events in the life of a Doctor.
One of my best quotes from the book-
"Never be disgusted by a person.Hate only his or her bad qualities . In fact, nobody is totally good or completely awful."

About the Author:
A plastic surgeon by profession and a writer by passion – Dr. Jas Kohli had started his training as a surgeon twenty years back. Though during all those years, he hadn’t imagined that one day he would be exposing the secretive world of plastic surgeons and their clients. He takes keen interest in astronomy, music and bird-watching. Anything To Look Hot is his literary debut. Through his writings, he aims to foster a stronger doctor-patient bond.

ME FEELS

WOWs!!!

Plot: Fresh, unique, interesting and realistic, the book is a virtual tour of the life and experiences of a plastic surgeon. Told in first person the story starts with Dr. Dhruv the protagonist clearing the entrance test for the M.Ch (Master of Chirurgiae) course. It then slowly but steadily weaves its way through his life story. However what really interested me is the way the Author himself a Plastic Surgeon, has highlighted the weakness of the human race i.e. the never-ending urge to look good and young.

The book busts a few myths regarding plastic surgery and plastic surgeons the common one being that all’s rosy-posy in the plastic surgery business and that plastic surgeons make loads of money easily. Well, it’s not so. Fame does not come easily. To be a leading Plastic Surgeon one has to toil for endless hours, depend upon ones clients and friends to campaign for him/ her by word of mouth and also have the right people in his/ her life. In short, the life of a successful Plastic Surgeon is not a roller-coaster ride but one filled with hurdles. A surgery gone wrong can mean not only the end of one’s career but years of litigation and sleepless nights too. As regards money, the successful ones do make loads of it but then along-with it comes loads of responsibility. In the rat race to become successful in the field, the Plastic Surgeon has to make innumerable sacrifices.

‘Anything to Look Good’ also makes us aware that plastic surgery deals not only with the human face but that it involves a lot more. The field is wide and encompasses the entire human body. It has the potential of making the ugly look beautiful, the obese look slim and trim and the aged look young and fresh. The book goes into the nuances of some of the procedures in detail.

The story is interspersed with bits of romance and humor here and there but is devoid of unexpected twists and turns. But then the book does not belong to the romance genre nor is it a mystery/ thriller. Hence to expect twists and turns is out of place.

Language: Language is simple and easy to understand. The beauty of the language is that it is devoid of complex jargon and confusing sentences.

OOPs!!!

Story- line : The part regarding Dhruv’s father’s entry into the world of acting towards the end, could have been avoided. It does not add value to the story. Instead, it looks out of place just like the sixth finger on one’s palm.

RECOMMENDATION

Overall a simple but lively read, this one is sure to interest the reader.

It all starts when a plastic surgeon set offs for his new journey for re – creating the natural facets of god’s creation. The book is a real life, breathtaking experience of the author, explaining how is it to be a plastic surgeon and the patient’s expectation for the survival of the fittest. The whole book illustrates the story about Dr. Dhruv, the protagonist clearing the entrance test for the Master of Chirurgical science. The irony of the novel lies how the author who himself is a plastic surgeon, has highlighted the weakness of the humans to their never-ending lust to look hot and young.
The book is a compilation of interesting, realistic and being one of its kinds to generate interest among its readers. The book takes the readers to discover the life and experiences of a plastic surgeon in a virtual manner. It is said that fame does not come easily to people. One needs to work hard and be patient for the outcome. And especially in case of plastic surgery, the satisfaction and reaction of the patient lies on the look they got from the surgery. Being a leading plastic surgeon, one has to bear exertion for endless hours of study on facial theories, and executing the same to fetch the accurate requirements of the patient. To be brief, the life of a successful plastic surgeon is not an easy path instead it is the one with obstacles. It is a myth that a plastic surgeon mints one hell of money, instead a surgery gone wrong can meant to end the medical career of the surgeon along with the one who opted for the facial makeover.
One suffering from blisters due to accidents, fire and acid attacks tend to come over to get a brand new fresh face and identity. The field of Chirurgical science is considered to have great scope according to the industry experts. It has the potential of making the ugly look beautiful, the obese people look slim and gorgeous and the aged ones look young and fresh.
‘Anything to Look Hot’ is a debut, science fiction narrating the candid confessions of a plastic surgeon. The book also makes its readers aware of the fact that a plastic surgery deal not only with the human face but it involves a lot more of emotional and social values. The prominent people and celebrities from Bollywood would ask to make them look younger and do anything to look hot. Real life incidents of famous personalities determine that they just want a facial makeover or surgery to bag a role in the movies and don’t want to raise the age bar for doing serious or adult roles in the movies. The book goes into the deep detailing that defines the procedures and its operation on a human face and its consequence in the real world.

Book Review- In this novel, the author takes the reader through the trials and tribulations of the life of a plastic surgeon, Dr. Dhruv Khanna. The author, being a plastic surgeon himself, narrates a ringside view. The narrative is crisp and the language, lucid. However, the account seems to be autobiographical in nature. Herein lies the problem with this otherwise adroitly written book. The life of the protagonist is devoid of drama and the action is limp. There is hardly any character apart from Dr. Dhruv which can hold the reader’s interest. There is no prominent female lead and no antagonist. There is a fleeting reference to an aborted love affair between the doctor and a beautiful female. According to me, this could have been handled in a better way; could have been given more prominence. ‘A plastic surgeon who knows only too well that beauty is skin deep falling for a beautiful vixen’. Now, that would have been a great ‘sales pitch’ for a romantic novel. The book could have scaled greater heights but for the lack of spices in the cauldron in which this story was broiled.
Verdict- A well-cooked dish, bland for the dearth of seasonings…
About the Author- When Dr. Jas Kohli started training in plastic surgery twenty years back, he hadn’t imagined that one day he would be exposing the secretive world of plastic surgeons and their clients. To begin with, this book can be called a mini encyclopedia on plastic surgery for amateurs who are fascinated by the profession or who would like to make it big as plastic surgeons. The journey starts with the protagonist appearing for his exams, to finding it difficult to decide if this is the profession he's made for, finding his love in his junior and finally making it big in the field.

Jas Kohli, the writer, sheds enough light on the profession by getting into the minutest of the details. From the increasing awareness about the the cosmetic surgery in India in the 70s to how big it is a part of the showbiz world today, Jas has done a decent job. He does make you think how the stars are able to look on the celluloid the way they do and what all could possibly go behind the closed doors to make them get there.

The story, however, does not keep you hooked and the book appears to be an attempt of mixing the non-fiction with fiction just to keep the reader engaged. The author does try and bring certain characters and situations to the plot to make the journey exciting, it still ends up being just a sneak peak into the world of plastic surgery. You would wonder what the book is actually all about until you have flipped over around 50 pages. The pace develops slowly but fails to deliver on an exciting fictional story and all you end up getting are some technical medical details related to the job. Some characters move in and move out leaving you wondering if they have added anything to the story and they seem to have been introduced to make way for the introduction of a few more medical words to enhance our vocabulary.

Despite all this, the one thing that will stay with you is how the writer has attempted to showcase the four relationships and he is successful in creating intimacy between them. The four being, Dhruv with Nandini, his patients, his father and with Murari who Dhruv calls his 'trusted lieutenant' and who goes a long way than just being an assistant.

At the whole, if plastic surgery does not excite you at all and if you do not wish to go under the knife, you can skip this one. However, if you are an aspiring plastic surgeon or interested to know about this world of physical enhancement, you must pick this up and take a dive into that world. I go with 3 out of 5 stars for the first book by Dr. Jas Kohli. Age youthfully, readers. :)

First of all a congratulations to Dr. Jas Kohli for his debut Novel. ‘Anything to Look Hot’ is a story based on real life events. It s a life journey of a plastic surgeon Dr. Dhruv Khanna who narrates the whole story about him that how he faces various situations in the field of plastic surgery. The story starts with Dr. Dhruv’s clearing M.Ch (Master of Chirurgiae) exam and his starting journey as a resident doctor in Arogyam Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Vidur (Chief of Plastic Surgery Department). The story is keep rolling steadly when Nandani comes in his life and they get married. However they are from different societies but they didn’t faced any hurdle in their marriage. After some time Nandani gets admission to complete her M.D whereas Dhruv Moves to Mumbai, the city of dreams and stardom.
Authors tries to keep pace of the story with Characters of Chitra, Shagun and Murari but after a point of time and few pages story starts losing its
grip and the reader feels disconnected. Though author has tried to put some humor in the story-line. He also discusses how actors and actresses sometimes throw tantrums while sometimes stay over- friendly for some other reasons. As a Surgeon Dr. Jas has tried to clear many myths regarding the surgery.
Positive:
· Narration style is simple and easy to read.
· A different kind of story plot which attracts any reader to give it a shot
· Author has revealed many secrets about the actors and actresses that how they show their wild desire to get their body reshaped.

Negative:
· Story is all about plastic surgery so it seems like some kind of medical terminology book more than a fiction book. Reader faced an awkward situation to connect himself with the characters and storyline.
· There are no twists and turns that I felt should be put by author to bind its reader with the book.
My Verdict:
Over all Dr. Jas Kohli has come up with a unique and fresh story. Cover is also attractive that makes this book a fast pickup. If you want to know how the celebs are crazy about being reshaped and more about what exactly a plastic surgeon do then you surly can go with it. Available on Amazon so go and grab a copy today.

Review :- Anything To Look Hot By Jas Kohli

Congratulations for your debut book and thanks for counting me in your "Reviewer List"

Like plastic surgeons enhances the outer beauty of Homo-Sapiens Similarly, the cover designer has given his best shot where the outlook of this book is concerned.

The concept behind this book is quite new and different but the story keep revolving around the young plastic surgeon DR.Dhruv and his long lasting client list without any loopholes, emotions or Twist. The Only string that was holding this story was the Faded Romance and humour splashed at certain points.
From Dr. Dhruv's plastic creations to Nandini's suspicious yet understanding wife trait, from Chitra's supportive aspect to Murari's honesty and dedication, From the Confidential treatments to the limelight of fame and recognition, From the Astronomy passion to the interesting encounter with Lavika's, From the Guru's and motivators (DR. Jayaraj & Dr. Vidur) To the corrupt doc.. This book is humdrum read.

Quote from the book :-

:- Never be disgusted by a person.Hate only his or her bad qualities . In fact, nobody is totally good or completely awful.
:- Our Society is deeply biased against old people. When the young make bold career moves, they are said to be go-getters. But an old risk taker is labelled demented.

Wow and Oops of the Book

Language & Content :- The language is quite classy and understanding with a bang on editing but the storyline was opaque and dull.

Target audience and Connectivity :-
This book is like a " nutritious diet" for the medical people but Being a commerce person the journey deep inside the medical field was like an alien world to me.

Humour v/s Romance :- The limited humour portions were epic to read but the romance and other emotions were totally faded.

Overall, No matter how sharp is a layman's Mind it can never understand the complexities of Medical science.

P.S :-A new and promising concept with tedious and plain execution.

Rating :- 3 + .25 ( For the different concept and perfect editing) / 5

BOOK REVIEW

This Novel provides detailed account on Plastic Surgery for the Budding Surgeons.

Plastic Surgeon, Jas Kohli, starts his Plot with telling the Qualities of a Good Surgeon.

Then starts with the Plot with declaration of the result of M.Ch. (Master of Chirurgiae) which is topped by our Narrator Dr. Dhruv Khanna.
The Novel talks about his journey as a Resident doctor in Plastic Surgery Department of Arogyam Hospital under the guidance of Chief Dr. Vidhur which made him one of the Best cosmetic surgeon.
During his senior year, He was assisted by his Junior Dr. Nandini with whom he got married after his Masters. Then, He got separated from her because She wanted to pursue MD in paediatrics from Assam.
The Story went on with Dhruv attending an International Conference at Mumbai and then doing an Fellowship in US with the help of Dr. Palmer. After returing from US, he was pursued by his Father Ravinder Khanna to settle in Mumbai.

The Novel talks about How was his Journey in Mumbai? How He makes it Big in Bollywood? What Struggles He faces before making his name? How he kept up the Pace with the upgradation of Laser Technology?

There are 2 more special character who needs to be specially mentioned Chitra and Murari.
Chitra is the gossip columnist, Starsworld and Murari is the Assistant at Tulip Plastic Surgery Centre.
Their presence made the Novel entertaining.

Favorite Moments:
# Party Conversations when He Topped the Entrance Exam.
# Dr Vidur's way of Teaching.
# Dhruv falls in Love with Nandini.
# When Murari comes to rescue Dhruv whenever he was caught up in a situation.
# When Dhruv left his own Operation to operate Murari.

Negative Spot in Book: Story rolls out flawlessly without any turn or twist. In the Beginning, I felt that Dr. Jas Kohli tried to put in a Twist with the Mention of Dhruv's Ex, Manika and their conversation on call when he was in Chicago, but that didn't go well.

So, I would like to conclude by saying that "Anything to Look Hot" is a straightforward but fun novel and is a sure way to have a Sneak peek in the World of Surgery.

Title: Anything to Look Hot
Author: Dr. Jas Kohli
Publisher: Srishti Publishers and Distributors
Price : ₹195

Plot: When the superstar diva of the past decade doesn’t want to play the hero’s mother on screen, she insists that she be reshaped into the most beautiful woman in the world…by any means.

Dr. Dhruv’s journey surpasses even a masala movie for humour, drama and action. In debunking many a myth about cosmetic surgeries, the book will enthrall those who can do Anything to Look Hot.

My take on this Story: As this story is about Plastic Surgery it gives readers a new experience and it is a treat to readers who like Medical Fiction. Book Cover of the story is attractive and make it an instant pickup.
Language of the story is simple but attractive. It avoids the confusing sentences and ties the attention of the readers.
Story also tells us about the wild desires of the actors and actresses about their looks. Author has also highlighted the social issues faced by North-East Indians.
Dr. Palmer's humorous talks, Dr.Dhruv's wooing Nandini, the way Murari helps Dhruv, these are some of the fav. scenes of the story.
Story contains a bit of romance and humour but is a straightforward story and lacks twists and turns. Some processes are in detail which most of the readers cannot understand.
Dhruv's Father takes up acting was very filmy and unreliable.

Ratings:
Book Cover: 4/5
Language: 4/5
Character Justification: 3.5/5
Final Rating: 4/5

So this story is something new to read and you can grab your copies at Amazon.

Doctors are said to be the "Creators of God",we always find the ray of hope in them. Many of us are not happy the way we look and get jealous of others but it is truly said that"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" but in today's world it is difficult so it is the Plastic Surgeon who helps us in getting the looks we want that is beautifully explained. The author himself being the Plastic Surgeon has perfectly narrated the story.A line is also used in the book which says"What is better than marrying a Plastic Surgeon".
The Book's plot has been beautifully explained in the simplest way.The pace of the story is nice. The story revolves around the life of the doctor who desires to become a Plastic Surgeon and his Different Phases of Life has been focused on which he goes through from a normal medical student to becoming the celebrity surgeon or getting the beautiful phase of Love in his Life. The best part is you will feel connected to the characters and the only problem is sometimes the book uses medical terminology that is difficult to understand.
Many of us have seen on Television about the "Magic of Surgery"It would be like "Hukum mere Akka" and tadaa..its done..face changed but in reality how is the actual process is shown in this book.Sometimes surgery become essential in case of burn, wound etc and sometimes its just to enhance the beauty"Beauty truly lies in the eyes of beholder" but this world has changes nowadays what matters is looks and fashion trends and so the business of Plastic Surgeon are booming.Everyday we read about celebrity getting their makeover done through them to survive in this competitive world and more importantly who doesn't want to look pretty?Everyone.Right.From Actors to Layman who copy their favorite stars and why not it gives you Golden Chance to rediscover yourself.
This book is the categorical book.He has beautified the story by using Medical miracles and his love life and the nexus it has created. So the book is really nice. What more I can say"Do anything to look Hot"

While Medical fiction might not be everyone’s cup of tea, Jas Kohli manages to make his novel a lot more palatable. Since he himself is from the same field of plastic surgery as the protagonist Dhruv, the narrative feels a lot like an autobiography and less of a fiction. These, in the words of the author, are ‘candid confessions’ of someone who knows what goes on behind the closed doors of a clinic. While Dhruv is a charming character, characterizations of others falls short of the mark by a wide margin. The wife of the protagonist, who seemed promising enough, is soon side-lined. First person narration keeps our interest but the stated conversations are a tad too boring.

What the author does successfully is take up a very refreshing pseudo-fictional theme and make it interesting. The language is readable but we could’ve done without the gross details of plastic surgery, because after all, we don’t really need the gory details. Somewhere in between the pages, the novel started sounding more like a memoir than a story. While the theme had a lot of scope for interesting revelations and ‘candid’ masala stuff, the narrative is out and out predictable by the time you reach the fag end. Also, the ending left me with a feeling of ‘wait, what?!’ - the abruptness could’ve been easily tackled.

The author does deserve brownie points for not making the novel revolve around a money-minting chiseled body plastic surgeon and keeps us grounded in reality. Fame cannot be pocketed as easily and one doesn’t necessarily hit upon a casket of gold in the medical arena. What I ardently wished for when I picked up the novel was for it to be at least somewhat close to a thriller, hence it leaves a bad taste for not having come up to the mark in terms of storyline. Overall, a decent one time read.

A Straightforward Read !!!

Truth be told , I received this book as a Review copy in exchange of an honest review . Plastic Surgeon , Jas Kohli , has given a detail account on Plastic Surgery debunking many myths about Cosmetic Surgery . " Anything to Look Hot " is a straight forward read narrated in First form by Dr. Dhruv Khanna who by profession is a Plastic Surgeon and the writing style makes it a true-account type fiction with zero twists and turns . Story hatched with declaration of Dhruv's result of M.Ch. which he cleared and starts his journey as a Resident doctor in Plastic Surgery Department of Arogyam Hospital under Chief aka Dr. Vidhur . Under Vidhur's tutelage , Dhruv passed out as one of the leading cosmetic surgeon making his way in Bollywood on his dad's advice .It was during his tenure as a senior Resident Doctor , he met Nandini who joined as a junior Doc and later tied in the sacred knot of marriage .With Nandini's Character , Author has highlighted the social issues faced by North-East Indians in Delhi and other parts of country . Dhruv's Father Ravinder Khanna is portrayed as a supporting father who stands behind his son . Author keeps the pace of the book with Chitra and Shagun's character which even with plain writing doesn't let the reader doze off .

Fav. Moment :
# When Dhruv Went Gaga over Nandini .
# Dr. Palmer's humoros talks .
# Mururi who comes to rescue Dhruv whenever he caught up in a situation which Books can't help to sought out .
# " Don't share Client's information " board in Dr. Jayaraj's Hospital in every corner .

Negative Spot in Book : Story rolls out flawlessly without any turn or twist .

My take-

Anything to Look Hot is a life journey of a plastic surgeon. The story begins with Dr. Dhruv clearing his M.Ch. (Master of Chirurgiae) exams with outstanding marks. Congratulations and celebrations then takes place and few days later, Dhruv finds himself embarked on his journey to become a plastic surgeon.

Days roll on and one fine morning, Nandani walks in to Dhruv’s life. She works as a junior to him. A few talks and gradual meet ups make Dhruv fall in love with Nandani. Nandani too, sails in the same boat as his. Dhruv is from Delhi and Nandani from Assam- would their parents agree to their marriage? Yes, they agree and Nandani and Dhruv get married. Nandani gets admission to complete her M.D. whereas Dhruv moves to Mumbai, the hub of actors and actresses in India.

Anything to Look Hot is a story of success and the hurdles to success. It’s a story about jealousy. It’s a story about loving one’s job. It’s a story of friendship.

Does Dhruv get carried away with the starlets? Does his decision of shifting to Mumbai bring rift in to his and Nandani’s relationship? Time to find out!

Likes-

The narration of this novel is very refreshing.
Dhruv’s effort in wooing Nandani is appreciable.
The use of medical terminologies. It reminded me of The Fault In Our Stars. “Hazel Grace, I love it when you talk medical to me.” This book gave me a similar feeling that Augustus had!
Dhruv’s dedication and his enthusiasm towards his work.

Dislikes-

The part where in Dhruv’s father takes up acting. It read very filmy.

I rate-

Cover- 2/5
Story- 3.5/5
Characters- 3/5

My overall rating for Anything to Look Hot is 3/5.

Cosmetic surgery is a new subject for me. I had read some part of it in an exaggerated cliched form in James Pattersons Alex Cross book. I had watched movies on it and I have read news where celebrities make themselves pretty and perfect. The title is catchy and interesting. You get hooked. But then the cover creeps in. It’s one of the worst covers I’ve seen in a while. Kudos to Srishti for that. The pages are yellow and crisp, the pagination is quite simple and nice.

Anything to look hot is surely a biographical account or it feels like that. It’s very draggy and uninteresting. It goes on a very straight path with no twists or turns, no complications, no plot progression. It’s very real. But that could be a good and a bad point for someone. For me it was bad because I needed something to hook me and the only thing I was able to have a little fun with were the nitty gritty conversations with the clients. I liked how the author clears the myths around cosmetic surgery and how it gives a reader a new vision to it. But that was it. The characters were nothing out of ordinary. The humor was passable. I wanted it to be really good but it disappointed me. The subject matter is interesting. If someone knows the ins and outs of this subject, you can write such a fun book. Unfortunately for me, it ended up in mundanity. For that I give this book :

2.5/5

I love the writing though. It’s simple and holds your attention for a while.

About the story-
It is a story about a plastic surgeon, Dr. Dhruv, who transforms many big celebrities. This book brings out the truth behind the ‘always in shape’ celebrities. People who undergo knives usually never commits that they had done it. I wonder why?
Plastic surgery has started a revolution in the world. With its help even a 60 years oldie can look like a 20 years youngster.
My verdict-
The book will attract surgeon more than a layman. And if you are interested in the lives of celebrities then you can give it a try. It’s a onetime read. But the story seems to be really fast in some scenes. Like when you indulge yourself in a scene and starts imagining just then the plot changes. Overall, it is a nice read.

Anything To Look Hot, a novel by a plastic surgeon and writer Dr. Jas Kohli, is published by Srishti Publishers and Distributors. The cover is apt and thoroughly intriguing for the readers. Wasim Helal has done a good job with the cover art. The title too manages to attract the readers as everyone wants to look hot these days.

To find out whether Dr. Dhruv becomes a successful surgeon or not, how he managed to survive the pangs of separation from a girl who he loved dearly, how he finally found a girl he could live the rest of his life with and how he treated his long list of clients with great concentration and endurance, and what happened with him in the end; you will have to read the novel, Anything To Look Hot.

Book Review.

Anything to look is a story revolving around a plastic surgeon. He fell in love with a Junior who's also ambitious for her profession. This book depicts the life of a surgeon, dealing with minute details of the techniques. The in-depth knowledge of the author about this topic can easily be seen. On some points, the description goes a little complex and hence reader may find him skipping a few pages of the book. The book is paced slowly at the beginning and appears to be a blend of fiction and non-fiction. The narration is interesting but as a whole, the story fails to connect at every point.

The author is successful in portraying the major relations showed in the book, like, Dhruv with Nandani, his parents etc. The story got a well deserved ending, which is quite missing in a lot of stories these days. The overall story is definitely a good one time read.

Book cover.

The book cover shows a girl's face with surgeon's hand. Metaphorically, it describes the protagonist's face and the hands of the author. The book cover is admirable.

Review-

Language is very simple and easy to understand. Story is written in past tense. The book is very unique but realistic and that’s the beauty of the book I like that part of the story when Dhruv falls in love with Nandni and tries to impress her. There is little romance in story which balances the story beautifully.

The book is unique from the others because the book is all about medical field (plastic surgery) which is new for every reader. Narration and writing style of the Author is amazing.

The book is light weight so, it gives you little more convenience while reading. When you will read the book then you will able to connect with characters. Every chapter have something new and interesting.

Some chapters are stretched. The pace of the story is very nice but I couldn’t read the story in one go and that’s because sometimes the book goes deep in technicality.

If you want to read something new, interesting and unique then you can definitely go for it. Over all I enjoyed the book. A good effort by the Author.

Plastic surgery is a specialised field of medical science. Author, Jas Kohli has written this book explaining various situations, a plastic surgeon deals with.

Book takes some time to prepare it's plot and when it's done , the storyline flows like water in river. In relations, complications occur quite often. Kohli's protagonist , Dr Dhruv deals well with them through his wit & humour.

If you really want to know something about the field of plastic surgery & surgeon, how they feel, live, etc. Then, it's a must read.

Thick of things are father-son relationship, love of Dr Dhruv & his junior, Nandini & how it all goes between them, how they both fare out problems after having different fields of medical science is very sweetly illustrated.

Author has delivered a good piece of art. I wish it had a good proper ending, as this book deserved one. Some detailing is done which at times feels erratic.
On the whole, it's surely a one time read.
With YOU requiring, breaks in between.

With everyone trying to look beautiful, it is the era where plastic surgeries are in demand. Plastic Surgeons who can give the necessary makeover and make people look and feel beautiful are considered close to God. This book is the story of one such plastic surgeon who strives constantly to sustain in this fast paced industry. With an intention of operating on film stars and super models, Dr. Dhruv moves to Mumbai, the city of dreams. But it is not easy to establish oneself. Take this journey with Dr. Dhruv as he struggles to find his foothold and then balance his workload as he becomes successful. This novel gives you an insight into the mystic world of plastic surgery where everyone wants to get operated on but no one wants to make it public.

The book "Anything to Look Hot" has been written by an expert plastic surgeon and cosmetologist and gives an insight of this branch of medical sciences to all the readers even not from the medical profession. The book is written in a very interesting way. I am not related to medical stream but still enjoyed the book thoroughly.

I highly appreciate the attempt of Dr. Kohli as he as an author maintained the speed, readability and the points to create the interest within the reader in the entire book. Also, as a doctor and as an author, he has done complete justice to the ethics of the medical profession.

The flavor is different but is definitely an enjoyable read.
I have give four stars to this book as this book is excellent for it's class and a particular class of the readers having at least "Some" knowledge of the medical profession. But, if a completely layman reads it, it is difficult to assimilate at points.

So what starts with an intrigued real plot by the end of it melts down into a reel ending. This doesn't mean u won't like what you reading but it's just bursts your bubble that's it.. Exactly what I am doing right now.

Moving on ... What I like about this author is he writes very well without using any jargons or words wherein I needed to have my dictionary with me, yet comes across someone who knows his craft well.

This book opens up quite a lot about how today's generation is all about changing looks and going by the fake created Norma of the beauty world. It was such an eye opener for me that I was shocked that people today are so much bothered about looks, skin, dimples and what not.. And Iam sure u all certainly knew about celebrities and upcoming or strugglers in the film fraternity would like to undergo the knife treatment but even people like you and me do try these tricks was a hard to believe especially specif their hard earn money on something so not important..

Anything to Look Hot tells you the real life experiences of the writer of his plastic surgeon profession. I found the concept of the book something new and out of the line yet it did not come out of the usual recipe of a book. The book explores the true sense of plastic surgery and the upcoming trend of it in Indian glamour/celebrity life. The book might change your idea about plastic surgery. It also gives it's take on Indian mentality and society about physical beuty. It indeed justifies its title well.

I expected more of the confession side rather than his story, it took me nearly half the book to get what i was really expecting from the book. The writing style is plain and simple. it is straight forward in what it has to convey.

I will rate this book 3/5 :) and suggest readers to try ths for a change.
