Sisters in Blood #2

Omnipotent Blood

Rate this book
Having survived the attack inside the Natick Mall, Brooke dreads the thought of spending decades in exile while she waits for the media firestorm from the superhuman brawl to run its course. But soon after fleeing Boston, she discovers the battle caught the eye of forces far more lethal than humans. Captured by the dark goddess Lilith, Brooke is transformed into her greater demon general and finds herself tasked with converting the rest of her family to form the advisory council she'll need to lead the largest demonic uprising in history.

But not even Lilith could have anticipated the powerful bond Brooke has formed with her family. Seeing her resist even after losing her soul, angels soon take interest, as Brooke's unfettered access to Hell and greater demon abilities could shift the tide in the age-old war if she were to fight against her dark queen. Her love for Sienna, her sisters and her now girlfriend, Sandy, is all that prevents her from fully embracing the darkness. But with the demon spirit inside her claiming more control of her mind with each passing day, will the power of love be able to save her?

This is book 2 in the Sisters in Blood series.

Prepare for a little bit of everything. Dangerous Waters was good but Omnipotent blood really outdoes itself. What happens in a world where you are the monster? You are the hunter, predator, monster...vampire. Just when you think things can’t get any worse you find out there are other monsters that are worse than you. Brooke and her family are on the move after the chaos that ensued at the mall. When trying to keep her family safe and trying to figure out her new powers she is abducted by a demon who wants to use her body and powers to overthrow the angels and the earthen realm. From here there is a one hell of a rollercoater ride. Brooke experiences abuse (sexual, mental, and physical) while her body is being overtaken by a demon. She somehow is able to hold on to a thread of her humanity that allows her to overcome the possession. She then has to face some very hard, heart wrenching decisions in order to help the angels fight the war against the demons. The story goes to many dark places while at the same time is witty and is filled with love. This is a beautifully chaotic story that will hold you in it’s clutches.

“Great. My girlfriend is a witch. Can’t wait until we have our first fight. You’ll probably turn me into a toad.”

“Lately, being around me was like doing research on the world’s deadliest neurotoxins while blindfolded and trapped inside an unstable nuclear reactor. I was a one-girl plague.”

“Horrific squeals and shrieks from the beasts doused in her napalm echoed off the rock walls even as others cried out, creating a macabre cacophony of death that sounded like something the devil himself would conduct.”

The one spoiler I will give is there is a happily ever after. Not quite what you expect but sooooo worth the read!

As usual, I came to this book COLD. No back page read, no review scanning. I just purchased it and opened to page one. To say I was upset at some of the storyline would be an understatement. That's just a personal bias. The author chose to direct his story in a fashion I didn't want to see our heroine go. But, it's his book, his story. I will go with it. I'm glad I did!!!
This book is visual, visceral, sexy, erotic, demonic, angelic, and FANTASTIC!! Ok, enough praise, on with the criticism. Once or twice, while the word was spelled correctly, it was the homonym for the word he wanted to use. Most notably "Peaked" instead of "Piqued". The sentence structure occasionally required me to read the whole line twice to place the proper emphasis on the right words to make it make sense. Again, that's writing style that I can account for, just noting it for you.
You will by now have noticed I am not telling any story or spoilers, that is intentional. You can read all those elsewhere. I try to provide a different perspective and give you other aspects of the book.
All the major players are well written and generally stay in character throughout. All the scenes are described enough to visualize and understand the space we are in. These are crucial to any book ,and just as important here, since some of the story exists on planes other than Earth.
Read Book One, then come back for Two. Anxiously await Three, like me.

First of all, let’s look at this wonderful color. ACTUAL plus sized women! On an urban fantasy color! The last time I saw that was…never, actually. It’s nice. I mean, come on. Not all vampires are hot. They just can’t be, unless becoming a vampire makes you magickly hot and in perfect physical condition.

But that’s just the beginning of what makes this book unique and fun. One of the things I liked best was the fact that we were hearing the story of all women vampires. The lesbian love interest, the truly dark storyline, these were definite points in OMNIPOTENT BLOOD’S favor.

It’s a GOOD thing for a vampire fan to be disturbed, frightened, and more than a little aroused during the course of a UF/PNR. There’s lots of action, plenty of moments where it really doesn’t seem clear how things are going to turn out for our heroes. There is also nothing quite so good as experiencing the world from the vampire’s POV, especially as they’re just beginning their life as one. I love that sense of dark discovery and wonder.

But don’t get comfy, this isn’t a squishy UF/PNR. There are great scares, a mystery, and terrific suspense. I didn’t read the first book in the series, but now I really need to!

I had a great time reading OMNIPOTENT BLOOD!

We have yet another hit on our hands, penned by the always-awesome CM Michaels!
Omipotent Blood is the second book in the Sisters In Blood series... This is one of those unique, well-written novels that keeps you actively turning pages..
From the moment you pick it up, you'll start to feel that the things that go bump in the night are no longer simply just a part of your imagination..
The lead character Brooke, shows strength, endurance & shows the evil side of the world what true love is really about... The supporting characters are solidly written, consistent in their stances & they certainly know how help you dive into this fascinating new world...
As always, Mr Michaels is meticulous in his work & knows how to draw every single reader into his dark, dangerously sexy world of intrigue, action & terror...
If you're a fan of the paranormal, don't miss this stunning series!

Book hangover anyone?

After reading Dangerous Waters I had a total book hangover. I could not forget Brooke and her sisters or the danger they faced. Omnipotent Blood carries them into even darker territory. It is beautifully written and forces Brooke to face beings worse than she could ever have imagined. In order to survive, she must defeat the demons seeking to enslave her.
