I read this when I was in 7th grade or so, I think I got it for Christmas from my parents. Anyway, it was written by my dad's cousin, and I think that's how my parent's picked it out. But I loved it because it reminded me of Southern Alberta, where my family's from--and where we moved away from when I was very young--and I could perfectly picture everything described. And the humor reminded me of my dad, and playing violent games of Spoons was/is something that I did with my own cousins. I guess the whole book felt very much like home to me, which was part of it's attraction. But it's a really fun book and I would recommend it to anyone, kids or adults.

This is a cute book. Nothing amazing, but fun to read. The style is different and there are clever anecdotes throughout. It's fun to read about a setting I'm so completely familiar with and characters that feel familiar. A bit predictable, but a pleasant read.

It was a fine book. Definitely not my taste and I had a few issues with it, but, it's better than most of the books I read for school.

Loved this book! It's a wonderful comfort-food book, worthy of frequent re-reads, both to split a gut laughing at Kevin's experiences on the farm and to sniff and shed a few tears at the friendships he makes.

This book was very wholesome and satisfying. I enjoyed it, however it is very much more a Sunday afternoon read than a thriller
