About the author

Braxton DeGarmo

Braxton can't lay claim to wanting to be a writer all his life, although his mother and seventh grade English teacher were convinced he had what it would take. A bachelor's degree in Bio-Medical Engineering led to medical school and a residency in Emergency Medicine. He served for a decade in the U.S. Army Medical Corps with tours such as the Chief, Emergency Medical Services at Fort Campbell, KY, and as a research Flight Surgeon at Fort Rucker, AL. Who had time to write?

By the 1990s, as a civilian, his professional and family life had settled down, somewhat, and his mother once again took up her mantra, "Write a book. You're a good writer." In 1997, a Valentine's Day writing contest convinced him that maybe he could write fiction. He spent the next fifteen years learning the craft of writing.
Now, twenty-plus years after that first hesitant start, he has sixteen novels published, as well as non-fiction books and a children’s book, and can't find enough time to write.

As a Christian, he writes "true-life" Christian fiction (suspense and thrillers) that many call "cutting edge," as he's not afraid to take on such issues as human trafficking, racism, and more. His characters are real-life as well, with all the flaws and blemishes real people have. As such, his books are never likely to gain acceptance by the Christian Bookseller Association. But then, he never intended to tell stories just to the choir.

This second book in Mr. DeGarmo's series only gets better. It was hard to put down and was filled with suspense, mystery, and complex plot lines. While the story is more gritty than the first book, it tells an important story about a topic that tends to go unnoticed: human trafficking. It was an excellent read with characters that were very human; they definitely were not one-dimensional. I can't wait to read the third book in this series--the end of this second book already started the anticipation for the storyline of the next!

Thank you to the author for allowing me to review this book--the opinions and thoughts are my own.

Wow, I enjoyed the first book in this series, Looks That Deceive, but I liked this one even better. It has the same great characters from the first book with the addition of others and really exciting character development. I have to admit, I'm hooked on this series. I didn't plan on reading one right after the other but they are just that intriguing. This book is very edgy for Christian fiction, as it deals with the horrific topic of human trafficking. It's a great book if you enjoy mystery, suspense, and thrillers.

Book 2 of the Medair Series. I would recommend reading Looks that Deceive before reading this book. This book contains, mystery, suspense, romance and human trafficking what more could you ask for in a thriller. Grabs you from page one and keeps you riveted until the very last page. I highly recommend this series.

I could not wait any longer--I just had to read the 2nd book in this series-the cliff hanger in the first one was driving me right up the wall.

Amy's boyfriend was presumed dead and there was a big funeral held for him--however his body was never found. Well he did survive with the help of a woman who was living deep in the woods-but he had no memory of anything before--The woman called him Jusef. She was in hiding after having been helped to escape from a VERY bad man who ran a human trafficking operation-among other pursuits.

She helped him to slowly regain his memory and re taught him how to eat, use utensils, etc. As his memory started to slowly come back he got involved with helping this woman. They had to keep moving to different locations to protect her.

When they finally got to a safe house Jusef really began to help get some of the other women out of bondage. There is lots of action at this point!

Jusef, who had regained his memory at this point and knew who he was kept it quiet for a while. When Lynch finally returned to his own name and they called on an agent to help them take down the sex trafficker and his political allies Amy is kidnapped. Her current boyfriend and the group Lance is involved with join forces.

One of the allies is someone you will never expect (and neither did anyone else).

Now we are left with 3 men and 2 woman--who will end up with who and who will be left heartbroken? This will keep you reading straight through--not to be missed!!

False advertisement. This book was not advertised as a religious book, yet there is plenty in here. Which by the way is not fair to the reader. The person reading the book may be Jewish, Buddhist, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Protestant, Greek Orthodox Catholic. You as the writer are pushing your religious beliefs on the readers. Not advertised again as a cliffhanger. Total waste of money. It took way to long for the story to come together. Definitely will not finish the series.

This is a Christian book

The author writes a good mystery. Gotta concede that. But there was nothing to indicate this was a Christian book. Never would have bought it. And as much as I enjoyed book one for free, I paid for book 2 and it laid the Christian message out there pretty thick. Couldn't continue reading it.

It is best to read the first book to get to know the main characters, and others that are added in this. It dealt with human trafficking, and getting secrets on others. You wonder how it is all going to come together and Amy is kidnapped. Lynch is alive and seriously injured. At the end you have all the pieces and how the players fit into plot,

What a ride! Picks up where book one left off! Continues on the ride of a great read! I finished it and was going to read another book, different from the series, but it had me and I need to continue to the book 3. Great characters! Rough subject but one that is becoming more aware of and needs to be.

Fascinating book. Horrifying subject matter handled delicately and well. Dr. DeGarmo sheds light on this horrific trend and with grace tells a story that is good. Excellent plot, excellent characters.

Spoiler: the good guys win!

This book is gritty; it's real; it's intense. The author nicely balances the Christian elements with the underbelly side of fallen human society, the bringing of "light" and hope to some characters coming out of very "dark" places.

Another great story in this series, but I hated the ending. Again no resolution to the end of the first book in this series. If the next book doesn’t resolve this issue, I’m done.

Rescued and Remembered: A Christian Thriller(Med Air Series Book 3) has blown my socks off. Book 1 was non stop action but this one beats the first.
This a heart wrenching story about human trafficking and how a small band of men fight the forces of evil to bring justice to those held by fear.
The main characters Lynch Cully, who is presumed dead, Ibraham, a former trafficker turned Christian and Danijela, a former sex slave form the core team that strive to rescue women from Danko, the head trafficker.
Enter Amy Gibb RN who is is drawn in first by her job as a Flight Nurse seeing the results of what happens to women that disobey their masters and her acquaintance with another character in the story.
She describes herself as a " poop magnet". first for a serial killer and now a human trafficker. By that reference me as a former ER Nurse knows only so well.
God has a center in this story as shown in Romans *:28 " God causes all things to work together for good to those that love God"
We also find in the story"Having true faith in your life casts out fears.
Dr. De Garmo, I salute you. It would have been a privilege to work beside you in any ER. This from an ER Nurse that has been through the fire.

This is book two of the MedAir Series. I would definitely recommend reading - Looks that Deceive (book one) first. This series is definitely a continuous series. One leads into the next, just as this one leads into book three, The Silenced Shooter.

Jusuf, aka Lynch Cully, Is trying to help the woman who saved his life. As the story progresses and he finds she has escaped from a human trafficking ring, can he keep her safe while trying to save others and bring down this group of people? His memory is coming back to him in bits and pieces, when it all comes will he wish he could go back or continue where he is?

Amy Gibbs is suffering from PTSD. She is also discovering that Lynch plays a major part of her past and recovery. When Richard Nichols enters her life will they be able to be friends, more than friends or is he not who he appears to be. When things go wrong will she know who to trust?

This is a fast moving thriller full of mystery, suspense, human trafficking, and some romance. There are a few curse words in this book and the sins that are involved in human trafficking are present, therefore this book may not be suitable for young readers.

I very much liked the first book in this series. However, this book made me feel like I was being hit over the head with the Bible. I wasn't prepared for this to turn into a Christian book series. I was disappointed because the Christian elements feel very forced and heavy-handed to me. I like the characters and I enjoyed the story, but I won't continue to read the series.

Book 2 has a great story line. The action keeps you hooked from the first chapter to the last and makes you want to immediately go on to book 3 to see what's going to happen with Amy and who she may end up with...
This book was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review. Thanks for a great read!
