About the author

Joan L Sample was born in Memphis Tennessee, and grew up in New York. Joan's first novel, Life, Will It Take Me Under? A novel that was inspired by an HBO special of runaway's living on the streets. It is a novel of hope and second chances.

Joan just finished her second novel, titled 'Malevolence Thy Name is Karen' which was released March 19, 2014 from LazyDay Publishing. This novel takes readers into the mind of a murderous creature, a soul stealer. The soul stealer is a demonic spirit that kills the soul of newborns moments before its birth and replaces it with its own murderous soul. The soul stealer is born to the unsuspecting parents in place of its innocent newborn. Its purpose is to bring devastation to the world.
Joan is currently writing her third novel, titled Beyond the Grave: A Novel of Secrets Past. Furthermore, Joan has started a novella that portrays the plight of shelter animals in the United States. It is touching, and profound. This novella is dear to Joan's heart. It is Joan's hope that this novella will increase animal adoptions.

This book is amazing. It is a MUST READ for everyone with a heart. It contains heart wrenching truthful stories of Unwanted Animals who are beaten, neglected, tortured, murdered and euthanized. Dogs are loyal and unconditionally loving companions who protect their owners from danger. They are as innocent as children, yet they are thrown out into the street to fend for themselves, or they are locked in cages or tied to fences with no food or water. Molly and her siblings were left in a box in an alley shortly after they were born. They would have died if a group of kids had not found them. Molly was one of the lucky ones at the shelter, she was adopted. BENNETT the cat lived in a nice house with a little girl and her parents, very much loved, but then the girls parents moved to a place that didnt allow pets so Bennett was thrown out like trash. Due to overcrowding at shelters, many dogs and cats are euthanized. CHESTER, a beautiful pit bull was saved from a dog fighting ring. #3017 This dog was a research animal. MANY MORE. I love the way Joan writes each story from the perspective of the animal! She shows how all living creatures have feelings and crave the same thing humans do – love, food, shelter, and fun. I cried at some of the stories and felt joyful relief at others. A must read for animal lovers!
