This collection of ideas began as a simple itinerary written by author Richard Rusnack II for a guest who asked him to map out a full weekend of things to do in Door County. It seemed like such a perfect way to keep all of his guests happy and busy during their frequent visits that he started a little journal of ideas, and continued adding to it for years. That tattered old list, which started as just a few reminders, has made it onto the pages of this little book. It is a very personal listing of suggestions shared over the years with family and friends. Some businesses are mentioned but these are not advertisements, these are time-tested places that have become perennial family favorites. Written with a fresh and honest voice, this guide will keep you on the path toward the best Door County has to offer. Use this book as a puzzle that can be assembled a thousand different ways; choose at random and build a day, a week, a summer, just flip to a page and follow the directions to fun and adventure!
Door County, Wisconsin is a special place for our family. If you haven't gone, you really must go! It has been called the "Cape Cod of the Midwest" or something like that.
This book is so much fun. We have tried to do many of the 101 things, and mark on the pages of the activities we have accomplished. Some are probably outdated now, but most aren't.
We haven't done all 101 yet, so time to plan another vacation.
