What a lovely little find. The Gloucester Road Slightly Foxed is one of my favourite bookshops, and via the power of a free twitter giveaway I wangled a couple of their quarterly without really knowing what I was getting. Suffice to say they are ace: perfect little literary morsels, ranging from background information about authors to enticing nuggets culled from out-of-print or re-printed books that demand you immediately go out and buy them.
Other than the handcrafted cover, the best thing in this issue was Julia Keahy's part Apocalypse Now part work yarn but totally bonkers tale of trying to index a non-fiction book whilst travelling up the Mekong.
I can't believe I've lived this long without being a subscriber.

I am very much enjoying being able to dip into these quarterlies. Each article is only a. Few pages long and there is such diversity of topics and books addressed. I enjoyed learning about Gavin Maxwell, practicing medicine in rural Ukraine during the 1920s and Julian Maclaren-Ross. V S Naipaul’s “Among the Believers” has been added to the To Be Read List. Onto Issue #4!
