Raul Alvarez no longer lives in California. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia College and has helped edit several literary journals, including The Columbia Poetry Review and Phantom Limb. He infrequently reviews books for the Los Angeles Review and New City Chicago. You can find his poetry in The Columbia Poetry Review, Court Green, Ghost Proposal, PANK, Muzzle, Pinwheel, Wave Books, and elsewhere. He participates in local salons and poetry readings, and believes that the literary community depends on active and meaningful communication between artists. In 2011 his poem, +1, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. In 2014 his poem, A History of Manic Depression, was nominated for a Best of the Net award by Muzzle Magazine. He lives in Seattle.
