Cece felt like she had awakened from a bad dream after losing her father to the system, and now she is faced with a brand new dilemma. Being torn between two men has just taken on a new meaning not to mention there are more of her father's secrets being revealed, causing a strain on her previous family relationships. Feeling like she is trapped in a corner, she makes a choice and flocks to the one that she wants by her side: Chuck.
With no knowledge of Cece's father and his diabolical plan to stop his heart from beating, Chuck continues making moves, hustling from the bottom to the top. Love is secondary, and that chase to get that paper gets more real day in and day out. With a killer on the heels of his Air Force One's, Chuck continues to make moves until it's time to go pay his debt to society.
Meanwhile, Vernon and his team are masterminding his escape and bringing in a specialist to take care of Chuck. A heart-stopping discovery changes everything and he's forced to choose between his daughter's happiness and his boss's satisfaction. In a race against doing time and getting out in time, follow Chuck, Vernon, and Cece deeper into the Smokin Mirrors.
I loved part 2 of this book just as much as I did part 1. The characters in this book were really about that life and they lived it like it was nothing to it. From the young to the old I never knew who could be trusted. This book was a page-turner from beginning to end. I am going straight into reading part 3. I highly recommend this series.
I can't say that this book really did much for me. While it was quite a bit of drama, I found my interest waning a few times. There were also a few editing issues that were hard to overlook. I have read other books by this author that I enjoyed; however, I can't find the same interest with this story. I will continue reading books by Mike O but I won't be finishing the series.
