Rate this book
An innovative handbook to the world of the Jewish mystics that opens up a window onto a higher reality. "When we embark upon the path of the mystic ... this earthly plane is no longer the focus of our lives. Rather, it is the invisible realm of the soul that draws us toward it. We become aware that there are worlds upon worlds beyond the material existence in which we live.... This understanding [illuminates] our ascent into the Timeless Expanses of Infinity."
―from “The Divine Structure of Reality” This unique guide to the world of the Jewish mystics will refashion the way you understand life, God and religion. Renowned teacher and spiritual mentor Rabbi Yoel Glick uses the secret traditions of Judaism and other faiths to show you how to deepen your self-knowledge and live life with greater meaning and awareness. Through the exploration of the body's energy centers (the sefirot and chakras), the many dimensions of the soul, the divine structure of reality and the unfolding relationship between the lower and the higher realms, you will discover how to harness the power of the Infinite inside you and infuse that power into your life and world.

I have met, studied with, and highly respect this author. What I have to say about this book in no way reflects what I think of him in person or as a teacher. In spite of its inclusion of really important teachings, I was disappointed in this book. However, that may well have to do with the fact that I came looking for something other than what this book offers. I was hoping to find specifically (in part meaning 'only') Jewish mystical tradition/sources/ideas of higher consciousness/etc. Rabbi Glick does a great job of laying out some complex ideas from Zohar and general Kabbalistic teachings in ways that someone with a solid basic foundation can understand. Where I fault the book is that the author also introduces quite a range of outside teachings, primarily from Hinduism. I appreciate his ability to appeal to a wide variety of readers, but believe that the introduction of so many outside sources relativizes the Jewish sources. Recommended, with caveats. Ideal audience is someone who already has a firm grasp on what Judaism teaches and is looking for what outside religions bring, on the same topics. Not recommended for someone new to Jewish mysticism or meditation as some of what is included may be misunderstood.
