If given the option, I would have rated this book with 3.5 stars. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed the setting of the story. I particularly enjoyed reminiscing about my high school senior year as I read about the characters and their interactions with friends, adversaries, and teachers. The mental health aspect of the plot was appropriate and portrayed in a realistic manner. However, at times the selected verbage used by the author caused my interest to dwindle.
I’ve been reading Caleb’s Myrtle Beach Mystery series and love them so much, I figured I’d start reading his previous works. Although this is a young adult book, and I’m just a bit of an older adult 😉, I really enjoyed it. Caleb knows how to tell a story to keep the reader totally engrossed. I will definitely continue with the next book in this series.
I enjoyed this book after reading the Myrtle Beach Mystery series. Right before I started reading it, I actually attended a football game at Nicholas County High School. I didn't know that was the setting for most of the book until I started reading it. I have lived in Southern West Virginia all of my life and was pleased with the story being based in WV. Another great book by Caleb Wygal.
I love this author and most of his books. This one is clearly an earlier writing and takes some time to develop. Regardless, I will continue to be a fan and look forward to many more from this gifted writer.
This one is a brilliant YA mystery/triller novel by the author of the Myrtle Beach Mysteries featuring bookseller and sleuth Clark Thomas. This one features teenage sleuth Lucas Caine. A young, brilliant, man that finds himself in a mystery in his town and high-school. It was great and loved the side characters like ths love interest Elizabeth. Overall fun and an interesting thrill ride.
Dear Author, Please, proofread!!!!! This book has so many errors it was almost unreadable! WHY did your editor not catch this? Was this a rough draft & went to print before editing? Please, do better!
It took a long time to actually get interesting. It finally became interesting in the last couple of chapters and then the way it ended and left the way it did was awesome but SUCKED. Now I want to know what happens next. Honestly don’t recommend
Story is okay though it wasn't concise. I'm no wordsmith but there were many repeated words and phrases. This was an audiobook for me using AI narration. The narration was okay, but it was often hard to follow because there was no dileanation between characters. AI did not give different voices. Overall tone, etc was okay, but often it missed the emphasis that should have been on words and phrases.
