The adventure becomes life-threatening when an exceptionally large ocean wave washes over their raft. Troy realized that he was no longer a little boy, who couldn't take care of himself. In the end both boys learn the meaning of friendship. The text is very easy to read with a combination of simple sentences for kids at the age of 6-8.
