Recovering alcoholic and former party animal, Cole Tucker would be an idiot to start something with his newly-hired right-hand woman. It figures he can’t seem to keep his mitts off the sexy, five-feet-nothing, single mom who can toss a sack of shingles over her shoulder and rewire a house better and faster than him. Her incredible strength and self-confidence—something Cole has pretended to have for years—draws him in. All he has to show for himself is his uncanny use of pick-up lines, a hand-me-down farm and some small-town rental properties. Samantha Chase has no problem accepting her new boss, flaws and all. His simple life is charming and exactly what she hoped to find for herself and her son in the small New Hampshire town. Cole wins her over by befriending her fatherless son and making her laugh again, something she hasn’t done in four years. When she learns about his shady past with the bottle, her heart tells her to forgive, but the painful memories of her past may be too deep to overlook.
Marianne Rice writes small town contemporary romance and women's fiction. Her heroes are big and strong, yet value family and humor, while her heroines are smart, sexy, sometimes a little bit sassy, and are often battling a strong internal conflict. Together, they deal with real life issues and always find everlasting love.
When she’s not writing, Marianne spends her time drooling over shoes, eating chocolate, attending her children's sporting events, and when there’s time, relaxing with fancy drinks and romance books.
I didn't care for it as much as I've loved Rice's other books. I think it was the characters that I had the most trouble with. Just couldn't get into the book enough the care what was going on.

I really enjoyed this book but not surprising since I've really come to love the writing of this author. It's fun and the characters are engaging and she brings in such a loving family from all around the main characters that it's a comfortable place to be. And in this one the romance isn't rushed. But I've read this out of order so now need to go back and start at the first book in the series and continue!! That gets me excited knowing I have a few other guaranteed great books to enjoy!
WOW, Marianne Rice has done it again. This is the third book in the McKay-Tucker Men series and she gave me everything I look for in a story. I had to read it in one sitting because I had to know what was going to happen next.
The characters in this story have an extra special place in my heart for personal reasons and Marianne did an amazing job. Cole Tucker, recovering alcoholic and former partier is asked to interview a woman for his family business. Samantha Chase is that handy woman that is new in town and raising her son Levi on her own. Cole realizes pretty quick there's an attraction between them but knows Sam is afraid of mixing business with pleasure and doesn't know about her history.
I'm definitely not going to say much in my review of this one except to say, read the blurb and read the book, you will not be disappointed. Marianne has written another amazing, well developed story that kept me turning pages, cheering for Cole and Samantha, and hoping for the happily ever after. Great Job.
This is book 3 in the series but can be read as a stand alone. I have enjoyed this book as much as the first two from the series. Well written, full of emotions and very easy to connect with the characters from the first page. Do yourself a favor and read Marianne Rice books. She is a very talented author.
Marianne Rice has crafted a wonderfully compelling love story that is guaranteed to have you rooting for Cole and Samantha to find the happiness they deserve...with each other. Ms. Rice has a gift for creating characters that jump off the page and into the reader's heart. I'm eager to read more in this awesome series.
This is book three of the series but can definitely be a stand all alone. I haven't read the other two but I liked this one so much I am going to read them. I really like the story and the characters. I was hooked from the start. This book had me laughing with Cole's pick up lines and crying for Sam's tragic loss. I was gifted a copy for a fair and honest review.
I love Ms. Rice's characters. She has a special way of developing them so that you are quickly invested in them. Cole and Sam's journey draws you in and makes you want to know more.
This book is book 3 in a series of possible stand alone stories. I really liked the characters and I really appreciated how realistic the story of how they got to where they were and how they came to meet eachother. Sam is a really great person who has been delt some blows in her short life time of losing both her husbamd and her daughter by a drunk driver. Now Sam is trying to get her life back on track by starting over in a new town with a whole new enviornment for her and her son. Cole is Sam's new boss and he starts to hit on her in the first few seconds of seeing her because he didn't know that she was his perspective new employee. I trully liked how Cole handled things in this book by not pushing things he knew he had no right pushing and by not using his relationship with Sam's son to move in on her and get down to the stuff he really likes. These two really complement eachother by making one more serious and responsible and the other to have more fun. These two were a great match and I look forward to more great stories by Ms. Rice.
This one was just OK for me. I really enjoyed 'False Start', but I had a hard time with this one. I think what bothered me most, was the dead husband. I get that he needed to be mentioned, but I found him to be mentioned too much. The constant comparisons were a lot to take. I didn't like Samantha's hot and cold act either. For six months mind you. If you aren't ready to move on, then let the guy go. And I thought she was out of line with some of the stuff she said during the conflict. Which, by the way, was never addressed. I won't be reading again.
I love book nr 1 and nr 2 this book did not have me regret to put it down a view times Cole was a great karakter in book nr 2 but now the writer put a fast button on Cole to grow fast in a adolt and later a father but i love that the writer hold on the basic line a close knite family and can't wait for book 4 and hope that Emma and Mason have a child and how Meg and Connor reacte as grandpa and grandma and how Cole play the uncle role.
All in all, this was a good book. I liked Cole and his pick-up lines that added a dash of humour and, of course, little Levi was a sweetheart. There were a couple of things that bothered me, like Sam's hot and cold behavior and Cole's making light of certain situations. Bottom line, I do recommend this book despite the fact I disliked Connor's story and will probably not read Mason's because of Emma. She just couldn't keep her nose out of other people's business.
