Welcome, Baby Bunnies!

Few animals can capture the attention and imagination of children like soft and cuddly baby bunnies. Welcome, Baby Bunnies tells the exciting story of a mommy bunny that decides to build her nest one night at a meadow's edge. While building her nest, she realizes how wonderful it would be if her forest friends could be near to help her share the excitement of the arrival of her babies. Imagine her surprise when she sees several of her friends coming into the meadow to join her for the special occasion. She is further pleased and moved to find that each friend brings a unique gift to help her build her nest and to celebrate the wonderful event. Numerous life lessons presented in beautifully rhymed verse, combined with subtle introductions to numbers and basic colors, are sure to make Welcome, Baby Bunnies a story that children will enjoy for years to come.

I won this children's book through goodreads giveaway- thanks Jim Shields! This was such a cute children's book and the illustrations were great as well! I loved how he incorporated several animals to welcome the birth of 10 baby bunnies! Great book- will buy future Jim Shields children's books!

This has both cute illustrations and a sweet little story. It reads fluidly and incorporates counting as increasingly larger groups of animals visit the mommy bunny. It is a very nice length for a one year old; not too much text to exceed the attention span, but also long enough for the parent to feel like he/she actually read a story.

I received a copy of this book as part of a Good Reads First Reads giveaway.

This short story of a rabbit about to have babies is easy to read and serves to aid in counting up to ten as her forest friends join her in a maternity watch. The artwork is themed to day and night as the story progresses. This was a free review copy through Goodreads.com.

What to expect: counting 1-10, rhyming, and beautiful calming illustrations. The first 13 pages of illustrations are so relaxing to look at; dark night scenes. A wonderful book.
