Rate this book
What is a girl to do when her rival wants to nab the attention of the one boy she’s liked since he shared his peanut butter sandwich with her in the first grade? Love, Lexi follows seventh grader Alexis Dawn Cooper (Lexi) as she navigates middle school and being a middle child. But this is no ordinary middle-school novel. This is a very pre-teen-ish book with Lexi’s writing style about her problems at school and with her siblings, but it was also very cute. I’m personally giving this book three stars mainly because of the couple of chapters where Lexi was fangirling over a Christian boy band; I was so tickled at that for some odd reason! The book had a unique layout (similar to a devotional but had a fiction story with it) and I also thought it was fun that the text color was pink. :)

Sherry Kyle has given tween girls a real treat. Lexi is a realistic and completely relatable girl. Tween girls will feel like they’ve made a new best friend with flaws, foibles, and a great sense of humor. And moms will appreciate Lexi’s kind heart and her willingness to learn. If you have a tween girl in your life, she’ll love Lexi too!

Alexis Dawn Cooper or Lexi struggles to navigate through middle school and being the middle child. She wants to be popular but struggles on how to get there without sacrificing her friendship with her two best friends. However, her trouble doesn't stop here. Her rival is trying to steal the attention of her crush that she has liked since first grade. What can Lexi do that won't question her faith in God?

The book is set up as a diary written by a middle schooler asking for help while writing down her struggles. It has empty pages that allows tweens to write in their own personal struggle so they relate to both Lexi and how they can work God into their lives. The book also has scriptures that tie into the story as well. I think this book is a valuable resource for tweens as it helps them realize that they are not the only one going through issues and it helps them realize and solve problems on their own.

This is an excellent book aimed at an often forgotten age of readers. Tweens are struggling with so many things it can feel overwhelming. This book offers a character connection while also helping young girls find that connection with God. I wish I had a book like this when I was that young. The entries are very fitting and I love the space for readers to jot down their own thoughts. Writing in a journal, or book like this, can be very beneficial for troubled tweens (and all other ages). Lexi feels authentic and real, which helps bring her story to life. I received an ARC through the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

Seventh grader Lexi writes letters to God about her struggles in school. Discussion questions and space for the reader to journal are included in the book. I chose this book for my sixth grade daughter, who loved it and thought it was funny. I enjoyed it as well, and was happy to find a book that was specifically about middle school.

I think that would be a great book for school kids. Give them a chance to review or think about how they would work on different situations in their daily lives. How would they cope if some one treated them a certain way in school & whatnot? love the doodles, scriptures, uplifting too. ( :

Sherry Kyle has a gift for writing for tweens and teens. Love, Lexi is a delightful story written in the form of letters to God from a seventh grade girl. She pours her heart out like most girls her age with a sincere and sweet trust. God's response through scripture creates a great dialog and will help the reader understand how God's word can work in their life. I like that there's space for the reader to answer questions and jot down thoughts. I can't wait to share this with my granddaughter. I think it will be a great tool to help teach her that God is there for her, along with the many encouraging scriptures and thoughts. The hot pink lettering and doodles will make any girl smile as they read Lexi's story. As a grandmother, I'm happy the book emphasizes friendship and relationship in a positive way. I can't say enough good stuff about Love, Lexi.

LOVE LEXIE by Sherry Kyle is a young girls diary written as letters to God. Quite charming and an insight to many of the questions and problems of a pre-teen girl.
Lexie has a big sister Kate who she looks up to. She is struggling to find her own way in the labyrinth of the adolescent years of school, friendships, peer pressure and longings.
The book is written as a devotional with the letters from Lexie, notes from God, reflections to ponder and a place for your own notes and feelings.
This would be a nice gift for any young girl finding it difficult to know who she is and her place in this world. She must first see herself as God sees her and make peace with herself.
I plan on giving this to my young granddaughter and recommend you do the same.
I received this book free for an honest review from Tyndale Publishers.

LOVE, LEXI was a really funny book. There are questions in there with lines to answer, but I couldn't answer most of them because I'm homeschooled, but it was still very fun to read. I recommend this book for girls that go to public school or a private school. Great reading, even for homeschoolers, even if they can't answer the questions.
