Running away from a failed marriage, Ginnie is forced off the road as she drives away by another car driven by a man in a hurry. As she makes a new life in Westhampton, she begins to suspect that the driver of the car is one of the actors in her theatre group, and there is something sinister afoot.
feel this book is one of the author ‘s weakest. First of all, the plot seemed contrived and not all that interesting. Secondly, the characters were shallow and / to uninteresting. Ginny seemed to be such a busybody and why didn ‘t she tell the police when she found the kidnapped victim ? She seemed to have no common sense and in the end, she suddenly decided to reunite with her husband. Apparently she forgot that he cheated on her, which is why she ran off in the first place and started this whole story. Finally, the story just seemed to be a rip- off of Agatha Christie’s Tommy and Tuppence Beresford books, with a well- heeled couple driving around the English countryside, solving mysteries.
I enjoyed the book, but I thought the main character acted very stupidly, but it's a nice little mystery anyway. Possibly my problem with the characters stem from the fact that it was written in the 1979's, and behaviors were different.
