Lawrence Jacobsen is a retired university librarian specializing in primatology. He spent his entire career as a librarian (1973-2003) at the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center, where the library has been renamed in honor of his contributions. Other honors he has received include a Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Primatologists in 1997, and the naming of an annual grant in his honor by the International Primatological Society. Jacobsen coedited the International Directory of Primatology (1997), the first such directory in the field, and took a leading role in developing online resources for primatology as well. Jacobsen received his undergraduate education at Shimer College and Northern Illinois University, and his two master's degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. (from Shimer College Wiki)
