The Broons and Oor Wullie at War are my favorite comic books ever! ( And I won't be suprised if they will remain so!)

The black and white illustrations are very, very cleverly done, and the funny everyday situations are hilarious. (Some of them made me laugh out loud!)
This book also illustrates the life in the 1950's very well, and you kind of get to learn more about that time.

The text is written in Scots accent, so it may be quite hard to understand what the words mean in let's say, 'properly written English.'
Take the title as an example. Written properly says; "The Browns and Our Willie at War." So yes... there is a difference,but once you get used to it, it doesn't bother you at all, and you can relly enjoy the stories.

The 50s (and the 60s) was the epoch of the Broons and Oor Wullie, all thanks to the penmanship of Dudley D Watkins. So many classics which were reprinted for a number of years after his death. The young Paw Broon caught reading Buffalo Bill in the classroom on page 13, is the spit of one of my best friends from the late 60s. Whilst decimalisation appears to have arrived in 1959 in the Oor Wullie story on page 134.
