Throw your expectations aside: this book is hilarious! You won’t learn a terrible amount of anatomy (in fact, you’re probably better off if you’ve taken a class or read deeply into anatomy beforehand) but what you will gain is an appreciation for the development of the study.
This book was far more entertaining than I expected. I suppose if you're going to recite a list of names and schools in book form it doesn't hurt to draw a reader with a curt, sardonic tone.
Interesting history of ancient anatomists. It doesn't get into the nitty gritty of actual anatomy, but rather, it talks about the development of the science from the Greeks up to the 1600s with Harvey. Includes many great original illustrations, drawings, and plates from the anatomists themselves.
