This book provides practical wisdom on growing in the Christian faith and developing a character that is more and more like Christ. The author places emphasis on growth within a community setting. She draws upon ideas from the Early Church fathers, monastics, and ascetical/mystical figures such as St. John Climacus.

The text is written very smoothly, and the brief chapters are perfect for meditative reading on the bus or subway.
