Kay Gardeko?: The Royal Massacre in Nepal

Rate this book
'Kay Gardeko' is Nepali for "What have you done?" and were King Birendra's words when he was shot point blank. The book describes the history of the Royal family and highlights the uncertainty that is now plaguing the country. The author takes a clear and unbiased look at the past and doubt-ridden future of the Himalayan kingdom.

The first point before anyone starts reading this book is that this book was written in 2001 and lots of water has flown in river Bagmati since.Hence, many facts will not be consistent with today. So,I am reviewing the crux of the matter.Basically books like this have two main problems (Read my review of The Bhutto Murder Trail by Amir Mir)
1.The inconsistent timeline
2.The repetition of facts
Thats the bad part and now the good part.
The book contains a lot of facts and rare photographs. It tells a lot about the erstwhile Nepali Royal family. The best part of it is that the author remains neutral.
So,it was an excellent book in 2001 but in 2017,it is a touch irrelavant. Thus ,my rating is three stars i.e. its good.

ok so i don’t know if i was reading the english translation but the writing was hard to follow. dont get me wrong all the facts and what happened is incredibly interesting but its hard to understand when the sentence structure doesn’t make sense. a lot of the images are irrelevant to the pages, with photos of people who aren’t even mentioned in the book, as well as a lot of unnecessary people mentioned in the book, whom the readers are supposed to know and recognise.
there are many facts repeated as well as many irrelevant facts but hey at least the subject matter was interesting, as was reading a book written at the time in between the massacre and the revolution.

The Royal Massacre in Nepal is one off the mysterious book I ever read because this book is based on true incident and also the neighboring country Pakistan blamed India for this incident and Indian leaders were agents to Pakistan. 2001 is really a tragic year for Nepalese.

I heard this book is a tad dated but i picked it up from Bach over Xmas. Interesting to learn about some history from Nepal - I didn’t realise the was a royal fam massacre in the early 2000s where 10 peps were killed! #drama
