Sadly, as the gummies discover along the way, the process used to create them bears no resemblance to the delightful, brightly-colored, final product. They learn that animals must die in order to create gelatin—a key component of gummy candies—and that it is only the suffering of many pigs, cows, chickens, and horses that brought them and their relatives into existence.
