Flying Above the Clouds tells the story of man's blind faith in and total reliance upon the promised fruits of high technology, along with the loss of innocence in the belief that such technology never comes without a price to be paid. The story picks up where The Colonel's Namesake left off, as the children of Josh and Ronni Madison begin to make their way into the world, following their own dreams and aspirations. Not satisfied with having gained the admiration and love of his family and constituents by re-making the company he heads into an organization that benefits everyone in the community, Josh Madison sets out on a new quest: to initiate a project of such magnitude that his reach exceeds his grasp. He soon finds himself ensnared in a trap of his own making, having overstepped his authority, he risks all that he has built up, jeopardizes his family, and alienates the love of his life. As his support base erodes and his leadership is called into question, Josh retreats more and more into the cold dark recesses of his mind. In his pain, he is faced with fateful decisions, not the least of which is choosing between salvaging his integrity, or succumbing to his pride. He knows he must put things right before he loses everything he holds dear in life.
