The architectural projects and themes of the Munich architect Otto Steidle, in particular his ideas on creating structures for living, and also his way of working, are presented in this work. Steidle's urban development schemes, recent projects and important early works are placed in a relational context in terms of form and content to give insights into his architecture. Concluding the description of Steidle's works is a presentation of the new buildings at the University of Ulm completed in 1994. The main themes chosen to illustrate his work are structures - of individual buildings as well as in urban planning, the system of vertical and horizontal access within a building construction, building in context and colour.
