Reflections on the Gospel of John: The Word Was Made Flesh: 1
Reflections on the Gospel of John by Leon Morris is a widely respected devotional commentary that bridges the gap between technical academic study and personal spiritual growth. Originally published in four separate volumes, it is now commonly available as a single, comprehensive work.
The book is structured to lead readers through the Fourth Gospel by "units" of thought rather than a strict verse-by-verse analysis, making it more accessible for daily reading.

Very good expository notes from a great scholar of the gospel.

Leon Morris is one of the most gifted commentary writers I've encountered. Expository Reflections on the Gospel of John is particularly good. His style is so down-to-earth and not heady (i.e. So overly academic it's dry and rigid). He writes in a way that feels like you're pouring over the scriptures in his personal study, answering personal questions you might ask while reading the passages together. Highly recommend!
