I find this really difficult to give a rating to. In honesty I have to admit that I enjoyed it. It's been nicely put together. BUT . . . part of me would love to give it one star on principle. It's largely just a compilation of stories from old annuals, which seems a bit pointless, especially as many people who buy it are going to be collectors, and collectors will have most of those annuals already. What makes it worse is that only one of the stories comes from before the 1980s. In an annual which is seemingly celebrating being the 80th Rupert Annual, it seems a bit pathetic not to have a selection of stories spanning the range. Stuart Trotter's new contribution seemed reasonable enough, so I don't see why they don't get him to produce an entire annual of new stories. I rather hope they decide to stop producing Rupert annuals if they are only going to waste time reprinting old material. If they are going to rely on reprinting existing material, they could at least use old Rupert stories which have never appeared in the annuals before.
