Exactly 16 years after the horrible events of 9/11 two astrophysicists receive a mysterious signal from an extraterrestrial source 8 light years away. The discovery of this extraterrestrial signal is leaked by an accident to the Internet and a Finnish hacker manages to decode a message embedded in the signal. She posts the decoded message, a video clip of World Trade Center tower collapsing on 9/11 in New York City. A fast paced international race starts – what is the real purpose of the message and who can claim the first contact with the extraterrestrials?

Peeling the layers of the mysterious signal, another deeper level message is discovered both by Americans and Russians. The extraterrestrials have sent their ambassador, Alexa, in an encoded digital DNA form. As the teams are racing to bring Alexa alive they learn that humanity is not alone in the universe, there are 20 million other civilizations in our Milky Way galaxy alone.

Alexa, a super intelligent extraterrestrial has a proposal that politicians cannot resist. The first country to connect Alexa to an interstellar communication network will gain a virtual monopoly to some awesome new extraterrestrial technologies. Despite many warning signs, the race continues and in a secret back room deal to ensure American corporate interests the future of humanity is sealed. Alexa is connected and soon all the knowledge of the humanity is sent over a powerful radio signal towards the extraterrestrials. The response is due back in 16 years. However, at the moment of connection Alexa takes secretly control over 90% of all resources on Earth, including nuclear weapons. Strange things start to happen, but Alexa is covering her tracks well.

What will happen to Earth in the meanwhile, what is the real purpose of Alexa and how does she achieve her goals?

In this relentless, page-turning tale of the first contact with extraterrestrials you start to wonder – is Alexa already amongst us?

An interesting idea does not make a good book. Wooden characters, hollow plot-lines and unconvincing technological advances. At least it was over quick.

I liked the plot, It started interesting with traces of Arthur C. Clarke in it. It's a good scifi novel, with strong first two thirds of the book and just "meh" last third.
