14 short stories. 4 award-winning.

Stories come from any number of places. One could start from a memory, a photo in a magazine or from pondering a news item and wondering 'What if?'

This collection arose from that sort of random stimuli. Some are pure imagination of science fiction or fantasy. Others, though, developed from random historical facts or the disturbing new stories of war-torn regions.

Each of the 14 short stories in this collection has coalesced from 'what if' to 'what is.'

Tendrils is an interesting collection combining short stories in genres ranging from dystopian to historical fiction. I thought the different genres complimented each other well, as did the wide variety of story lengths. Holly Barbo describes Tendrils as "where 'what if' becomes 'what is' and this theme was most prevalent in her science fiction stories, such as 'Octopus's Garden' and 'Breadcrumbs'. I felt Barbo's strongest work was her historical fiction and I would be interested in reading more from her in this genre.

An excellent compilation of short stories over different genres. I was highly impressed by the quality of the writing and her use of words, which dragged me in on every page.

This is a very entertaining work that I was totally invested in.

Other worlds, galaxies, historical fiction, and a variety of subjects makes this a must read experience.
