Impelling short stories are sometimes like scenes in a movie where first impressions point directly to endings, where just enough details and character development are displayed to lead the reader onward to the resolution of a condition. Sometimes bad things happen to the innocent (“Crawlspace”), sometimes bad things happen to the central character who absolutely deserves his fate (“Exit Left”). Sometimes resolution is the expected or deserved, sometimes not so much (“Gut Feeling”-- who deserves a monster living in their intestines?) Regardless, bad things happen all the time. Complete with an abundant Ewww! Factor, this collection is overall effective and with common themes of death, insanity, horror, and all that is included with the writing style, a very good read. A good story is a good story, no matter the genre. The author’s attention to detail and turn of phrase and forthright plot structure indicate a mature writer at work. I enjoyed the collection overall, with the favorite being “Terms and Conditions”. Reader take note: don’t read these stories just before you want to go to sleep!

Good writing, kept me on the edge of my seat for most of the stories. I enjoyed the fact that many were set in CO (a favorite vacation destination of ours). Got a little more freaked out by one story than I would have liked, but it too was well written.
