Rate this book

Night of Fire and Snow, first published in 1957, is a novel examining the life of a rising young writer who develops and eventually overcomes his writer's block. Interspersed are recollections of youthful love affairs, a marriage to a decent and also rich woman during the war, a long lasting affair with his best friend's wife (a top Hollywood starlet), and a liason with his sister-in-law.

Author Alfred Coppel (1921-2004) was a fighter pilot in the Air Force during the Second World War, and Night of Fire and Snow includes some flying episodes. After his discharge, he started his career as a writer, and would go on to become one of the most prolific pulp authors of the 1950s and 1960s, often under the pseudonyms Robert Cham Gilman and A.C. Marin. He is best known for his science fiction stories.
