Recently she visited refugee camps on the West Bank, including Kalandia, where she listened to the stories of many of the women. These experiences inspired her first two novels.

Every individual person has a particular image that pops into their mind or a set of traits when thinking about a spy or a hero. Some see heroes as infallible. Others find heroes in the unexpected, the flawed. As for spies, you never know who they are.
In the anthology, Spies and Heroes, various authors give their take on what it means to be a spy or a hero, and not one of the stories is ever the same. The face of a spy or a hero constantly changes as you read through this collection of stories. Some stories have just the right dose of humor and others are entirely serious. You'll also find that there is an array of genres in just one book. You'll see heroes and spies in a speculative setting, historical atmospheres, and contemporary stories. In other words, you are sure to find something you'll like.
Stories that particularly stood out to me are "The Hero of Stolen Time," "Spying on the Spy," "Honoring Debts," and "If I Should Die Before I Wake." I encourage anyone who wants short enjoyable reads to pick up this anthology. You may not prefer the stories I have mentioned, but you are sure to find stories that you'll like and are memorable.

How difficult it is to rate short stories when they are so different! Some are rather serious, others more humorous, most happen more than a while ago, but some have a quite recent ending. Those stories are rather moral, the bad characters are punished for their treason, no matter in which country they happen.
I hesitate between a 3 and a 4 star rating. Some are clearly above average, others, though interesting, rely on themes previously used (like the man who settles in a village for two weeks to avenge his brother's death). When in doubt, go to the higher number, so it will be a 4.
This small anthology deserves to be read, and some stories will be worth a following like the one about the 1812 war. Did the spy and the young bas bleu ever meet again?
