Widow, Emily, Lady Fortesque, embarks on a quest to taste everything delightful and decadent, placing her in a position where she must remarry. Providence supplies a cousin, Sir Hugh Exton-Loyd, the original stick in the mud. How difficult could it be to twist him to her will? Sir Hugh considers Emily a brash and fickle a piece of work, but he requires a mother for his two, prank-playing boys. A chivalrous offer of marriage in Emily’s hour of need might be the perfect lever to curb her unacceptable habits. How difficult could it be to harness an aging hoyden? Neither of them paid any heed to the old adage of how opposites attract. ”I love every book in this series.” Judith Post, author of Fallen Angels
Julia Donner (aka M.L.Rigdon) grew up in historic Galena, IL, USA, and spent most of her time in the museum of her aunt, who encouraged her interest in history and understood the need to cherish a dream. She started writing in secret in her teens and never stopped, merging it with her mother's encouragement to study theater and music, which led to performing in the Midwest, California and as far away as Austria.
Donner never forgot what it was like to write alone as a girl and is a happy member of Summit City Scribes. Concern for the failing educational system led her to develop Your Futures in Ink, a panel of local and regional authors, who go into to schools to encourage students and answer questions about writing.

I'm obsessed! What a refreshing read this one was!
As one reader mentioned, the title is a little misleading, as the hero is not a dandy, he's just particular. He was funny, honorable and a gentleman in the streets, but definitely a freak in the sheets- best kind of hero in my opinion! ohhh I love me a jealous hero!
Now heroine was everything! I like a damaged MC, someone that isn't too perfect, and Emily's background did an excellent job explaining why she acted out. She was witty, smart, active, likeable, but also a hurt little girl who spent a lot of her time trying to figure out where she belonged. Her finding out it was with the hero all along was so satisfying!
Also, I can just say I love a promiscuous heroine? I get so sick of virgins lol!
The title of this book is misleading, he really wasn't a dandy just meticulous and she wasn't just a flirt but promiscuous during her first marriage and as a widow. They were cousins of a a kind, his parents raised her when she was orphaned at 4, then she was sent to a seminary and an arranged marriage after. The story was promising but too much sexual content once the author wrote that part of their relationship. I will give kudos to author for writing about a female rake who reforms though.
Highly recommend this story. It unfolds slowly into a wonderful ending. It touches as well on Scottish history which I thoroughly enjoyed being descended through my mother from King James of Scotland. And Wales celts on my father's side. Loved the book. I've followed this group of friends stories. Excited to read the next book. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
The title is a bit misleading as Hugh is not a dandy, but rather exacting in his appearance and public behavior. His childhood friend, raised by his parents, is now widowed and penniless, finds herself in a difficult, and asks for his help. Overall an enjoyable read.
This author’s writing through this series seems to get better. This well-paced romance is thoroughly enjoyable , complete with a Wicked Villain, Jealous Husband, and delightfully naughty stepchildren. Highly Recommend
