I was given the privilege of reading Cain- Sins of the Father. A dark erotic thriller that delves into the biblical story of Cain and Abel, taking a different approach at the curse that has stricken Cain, traveling through generations..

Cain comes from a powerful family , Genevieve comes back into his life, a long lost love with the hope of continuing and growing into a passionate love affair.

Little do they know that outside forces are going to exert tremendous pressure on that new path they have taken together.

I loved it, for a few reasons, it's well written with a mature dark voice, refreshing take on Cain and actually makes you feel for the whole curse that has followed generations. Should the sons be punished for the sins of the father?

I encourage you to read it and decide for yourself.

I give it 5*****

I had the wonderful opportunity to help edit this amazing story. I am a voracious reader and I know a great original tale when I see it.

Cain is a man of expectations. Expected to take over the family business when the time comes. He expects to win the heart of the women he almost lost and begin a life with her. He is also a man with a dark legacy that he will someday take on.

But just when he thinks his life is finally coming together, dark forces come into play to destroy his whole world. An untimely death occurs that starts a chain reaction of events to spiral at a dizzying pace.

This is a love story and an action packed thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better.... it does. It creates a world of part fantasy, erotica, steeped in history, with a big dollop of thriller.

I highly recommend that you start this book when to have plenty of time because you will never want to put it down till you reach the last page.

Congratulations Elias on an amazing debut novel! Well done!

I was given a copy to read & review. What an awesome read it hooks you in right from the beginning. Once I started it was hard to put down & hated when real life got in the way. It's about Cain & Genevive who were a couple who went their separate ways when younger then fate throws them back together. We learn about Cain and the 'sins' of his father which affects his fate and future. I can't say too much more as it will give too much away. It's also a very hot read that ends in a cliff hanger. So we will get some more of Elias'awesomeness in another book. I loved the unique idea Elias used to post a picture and poem relating to the chapter at the beginning of each chapter.

Cain ~ Sins of the Father by Elias Raven is an incredibly unique and unforgettable epic romance filled with hot passion and undying love. It’s a fusion of the traditional biblical story, a battle between two brothers – good and evil, a family legacy and a curse that’s carried on for generations. This modern day dark, edgy story with its wicked twists and turns will bring us forward to present day. Can Cain and Genevieve’s love for each other survive?

I can't wait for more Mr. Raven!

If you are looking for a book that has it all then you need to read this book. Love, action, suspense, with a different take on a Biblical story. Packed full of details and emotions carefully woven into each page to create a very intriguing story. This book will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions and leave you desperate to get to the next in the series. The poetry and beautiful images at the beginning of each chapter sets the scene perfectly. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read more from this author.

Boringly disgusting dnf

*yawn*

I'm not sure if the 5 Star Club read a different rendition of the book than I did, or if they just aren't used to quality writing. Either way, this book lacked everything a good book should incorporate; sentence structure, proper editing, an actual story that makes sense.

The quotes predicating the chapters were well written, and the pics were nicely placed (in areas where the writer could have chosen to use the space to write more nonsense). I had to stop myself from abandoning the book in the first chapter, and chose to push on for as long as I could. This nearly did me in right from the start...

"I wanted to bang the shit out of her right then and there, no doubt about it. I was undeterred as I continued to slide my fingers deep into her steaming wetness, running them along the walls and roof, finding the rough spot."

Mmm...banging- how romantic. And what is this guy doing, giving her an annual ob/gyn exam? Walls and roof? Is he a contractor?

The strawberry scene shortly after lasted what seemed like an eternity...a strawberry only has so much effing juice! Where the hell was all this juice coming from?

I cringed after about the 50th time they BOTH referred to each other as 'baby'. I think that was around page two!

Ugh...the dialogue was über confusing- multiple people talking in the same paragraph. I became lost easily, and I'm pretty sharp, so I'll lay that blame on Elias (love how the author gave himself a gratuitous part in his own novel) GAG

I should have known by the cover that this would be a disaster. I would say it's laughable, but the fact that I spent money and time on this book doesn't amuse me one damn bit!

And another one bites the dust. Lesson learned from this one- TRUST a book by its cover!

I literally shouted out loud on finishing this book "you can't end it like that!" This was followed by various mutterings from me and comments from the family that I must have enjoyed it to have reacted like that.

This book didn't wow me at the start, I'm not a fan of pages and pages of graphic sex and I think I got confused as to what the synopsis meant. I stuck with it and became intrigued. I stuck with it some more and became bemused, then I stuck with it and thought 'wow' I honestly didn't see that coming.

The secret that unfolds throughout the book was refreshing and different. It grabbed my attention. The element of suspense was intriguing. And then... It stopped and I shouted.

Reading the author notes at the end I see that Gina Whitney influenced the author and I can certainly see the influence.

Aside from the odd full stop that should have been a comma, thereby interrupting the flow of the read, I enjoyed this. The poetry at the start of each chapter was different and yet I think I would have preferred more of the authors own verse in place of some of the classics. I enjoyed his poetic style.

Beware, you think you have a lot more story to come if you're reading on Kindle as there are extracts from two other authors at the rear of the book, that coupled with the sudden ending caught me out. I hate cliffhangers, but it worked, I'm hooked and I want the next book now.

It's a refreshing change, and a very unusual but enticing plot line. I look forward to reading the next one.

"Every family has secrets."

WOW!!! I'm completely blown away by Elias Raven's debut novel, Cain - Sins Of The Father!!! Impressive writing style and amazing storyline is guaranteed to grip the reader! Even though historic literature is not my strong suit, I LOVED how each chapter started out with a corresponding passage. Secrets get unveiled, family curses continue, and loved ones are placed in vulnerable positions; in this battle between good and evil. Total book hangover.....oh my.....need more Elias and Qaylin!!!

I can not in good conscience recommend this book. It was seriously poorly edited, the sex scenes were bordering silly and way over the top (which I wouldn't think is possible in an erotic novel, but apparently Cain has broken the mold on that front). I usually don't tell others whether or not to read a book based on my experience or opinion of it, but I would advise against picking this one up...I wasted some serious time that could have been better spent on other books on my TBR list. Sorry, sir, but this one fell extremely flat for me.

What the h-e-double-hockey-sticks is this shit?

Someone stab me in the eye with a pencil. This book was straight up annoying and at times I thought I was losing my mind to keep reading on. Big mistake. TAKE A WRITING COURSE! My time could've better been spent on reading those Vogue magazines Genevieve supposedly graced the covers of. Blech!

Just before all this happened Elias just reunited with Genevieve the love of his life just to be ripped apart. Elias find himself preparing himself for the fight of his life, avenging his father's death and saving his one true from another who wants to destroy Elias and the ones he loves. I'm pretty sure someone will be really mad at me for this words, but seriously this book is something else and not in the good way.
I thought started pretty good but then it all went downhill. I'm really sorry, I don't like to give bad reviews but the mix in this book was so weird, all the characters are kind of crazy, Cain telling Genevieve and I quote "It's time Baby; give Daddy your Orgasm." Thats is just wrong... And the use of the word baby, and baby girl... I counted 24 times just in 1 chapter.

I sincerely can't say that I recommend this book, I'm sorry Mr. Raven but book this book need some work.

Spectacular

Can a book be stunning? Can a book be such a work of art that the words paint a picture that you can see in your minds eye? If it is Cain-Sins of the Father, then the answer is an absolute yes. This book is so sophisticated and multilayered that I just could not get enough. Elias and Genevieve's love story is not your usual romance. Theirs is a love story with twist and turns and unforeseen road blocks. I loved this unique story and can't wait to keep reading about these characters. Mr. Raven can sure put words together to weave a tale of magic.

It has taken me a while to finally start this book, but I am so glad I did. The storytelling, detail, and suspense was well worth the wait. This modernized take on the tale of Cain and Abel was a fascinating read, filled with passion and the need for revenge. The plot kept you guessing on what would happen next. I can't wait to read the next book to see how things unfold.

The only thing I regret is that it took me three and half years to discover this novel. I love a book that I can envision playing out before me as I read it and this fit that bill. There are few authors out there that can captivate me to that extent, I can not wait to delve into the second book tomorrow. I truly enjoyed the twist on a story of old.

I absolutely loved reading this novel by Elias Raven. It is a great beginning to this series. I love Mr. Raven's writing style. He makes it easy to to become engrossed in the story and characters while making sure you know which character is telling their part. I appreciate how he lets the reader know when the point of view changes. I not only fell in love with the characters, Elias Cain and Genevieve Bessette but with the storyline as well.

The book begins with the main character, Elias, remembering his one true love, Genevieve, while waiting in his office before leaving for the airport to pick her up for a weekend stay. Elias comes from a wealthy and powerful family and had met her in college while she was a barmaid and going to college. They went their separate ways and now she's in town for a photo shoot over the weekend. Their reunion was explosive and highly erotic from the moment they see each other.

Before taking her back to the airport for her return trip home, Elias receives a call that his father was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. He drops Genevieve off before making his way to the hospital but she refuses to leave his side a second time and leaves the airport to return to the only man she has ever loved. This starts the series of events that leads Elias to discover his family's secrets and what role he plays in the very long history of the Cain family.

Elias and Genevieve start this new life together learning of all the secrets that were kept from him. She is ever faithful to him and refuses to leave his side no matter what she learns or experiences herself. Their love is strong and getting stronger each passing moment.

The discovery of his half brother, Qaylin, is heartbreaking to not only his mother but himself as well. Not only because of the discovery of Elias' fathers infidelity but the the discovery in Qaylin's hatred towards his own father by actually killing him in the hospital. This is only part of the darker side of the Cain family's legacy. Elias and his fathers assistant, Parker, begin trying to find this man but are they going to be too late?

I am so looking forward to Elias Raven's next book! I need to know how this story ends. I believe this next book is going to be just as explosive and intriguing as the first.

When I started this book I had expected a second chance romance with some hot and kinky sex and a side of family drama and secrets that threatens their relationship. Being a sucker for a good romance novel with hot alpha males and melt your panties sex scenes I was already loving this story by the second chapter. What I wasn't expecting was an epic story about a families legacy involving tragic events, wealth, and power that threatens the future of this couple and forcing a confrontation between heaven and hell. It was such a unique and interesting story line I found myself so engrossed searching for answers that when I got to the last page but not the end I was ready to throw my kindle but of course I could never! I hate cliffhangers! I want instant gratification!

After taking a few moments and composing myself I realized this story couldn't be told in one book . All aspects of this book need ample time and explanations for a full understanding. Cain is a very strong and passionate character with a lengthy family history that needs to gradually develop so he can become all he is destine to be. His true love Genevieve may hand over power in the bedroom but she is no shrinking violet and is capable of holding her own so I don't see her easily giving in to any enemies or going away anytime soon. She's is a solid character that isn't off crying in the corner. Together they are capable of great things given the chance so I'm pulling for them to come out ahead. There are other strong characters that need to be elaborated on that I feel hold vital information in order to fully understand not only what's happening but why and what part they play in this intricate tale. There is far to much that needs to happen still and I feel it will be worth the wait. This author may be new to novels but not writing and he has what it takes to give readers something unforgettable and this was a fantastic start. I'll give a brief summary but this is truly a must read to appreciate it.

Cain and Genevieve reunite after being apart for many years and right away they know they are meant to be together. She left to pursue a career and he has been doing what's expected from him which is preparing for the transition of power as he is believed to be the only child and heir to the wealthiest family in the world. Genevieve felt she wasn't good enough when they were together and although Cain loved her and didn't see it that way he didn't want her to resent him if she didn't leave and fulfill her dreams of becoming a model. They spend the weekend together and plan to work on a relationship but she needs to head back to Paris but unexpectedly his father falls ill before she gets on her plane. She decides to stay to be with him during this difficult time which then sets off a chain of events that will change everyone's life and all they ever thought they knew. The secrets that come to light bring danger for those involved and before you know it they are fighting to stay alive while trying to figure out the depths of the Cain Family legacy. Throughout all this their relationship is progressing and their love never wavers but can they stop evil from taking it all away?! What will happen if heaven and hell collide?!

I'm not always one for fantasy type novels since most are so far fetched it's hard to feel a connection and I need that to really enjoy a book so I choose them wisely when I do. Although this book does have some situations that fall in that category, it was so well written by someone who is obviously very intelligent with knowledge of historical events and beliefs that it falls almost to a gray area. I never struggled understanding what the characters felt and even wondered if many scenes that were described actual happened or could happen. I can't wait for the next book. Congrats to author Elias Raven and I look forward to reading more of your work. Also make sure you take the time to read this authors poetry it's some pretty incredible work.

Elias Cain is heir to Cain Enterprise. His college love, Genevieve, comes to the States from Paris for a weekend of fun with Elias. In between their love-making sessions they reminisce about the past and why they didn't stay together after college graduation. To get through school Genevieve was a bar maid, not quiet marriage material for the heir apparent of the wealthiest family in the world. Genevieve had also angered her own parents when she changed her path from their dreams of her becoming a doctor and to her dreams of a model. All was forgiven when she went back home to Paris and was able to pay off all of her student loans. Their weekend is cut short when his father, Jared, is found by his assistant Parker, unconscious in his office. Elias takes her to the airport and promises to keep her updated and rushes to the hospital. As Genevieve is sitting on the plane before takeoff she realizes the depth of her love for this man. She walked away once and won't do it again. She gets off the plane while she still has time and heads to the hospital. Elias is surprised to see her but also relieved, she's the balm that his soul needs as he too realized she is his one true love. Genevieve is surprised at the warm welcome from Mrs. Cain since she always thought that the Cains did not care for her. In reality they just wanted their son to grow up a little before settling down. Little do the Cains and Genevieve know, an assassin is out there just waiting for the right time to strike. He succeeds when Jared's doctor finally convinces them all to grab a bite to eat and he also joins them to ease their concern. Elias is beside himself, blames himself, and is in a terrible stage of grief. After his father's services, Parker takes Elias into his father's study and learns some interesting information about his father and his lineage. Jared was Cain, THE Cain, and upon his death the lineage is passed to Elias. Elias also knows about his half-brother. It's a lot thrown on him at once, but with the help of Parker and Genevieve he knows he can work through it. He and Genevieve decide they need to go back to the city to finalize some things and on the ride from the family compound to the airport, Elias and Genevieve both have strange encounters. Genevieve is able to get him back to the compound. Fortunately Jared's Monk friend was still in residence and attends to him, he attended to Jared when he had his experience. Now Elias has more information to sort through and Parker helps fill in what gaps he can. Jared's sins have come home to rest on Elias and now he must deal with them. The assassin is still out there. They know why, but not the agenda. Can Elias think on his feet fast enough and sort through all of this knowledge he now has at hand before he loses another loved one?

The story kept me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next, each chapter is told from a different character, but at the exact time you are wondering what the character would be thinking. I felt what the characters where going through and my only dislike of the book was that it did end in a cliff hanger, I can't wait to see what Elias Raven does with his next book.
Elias describes what the love of his life feels like, how he felt looking into her eyes and then he reaches for the handkerchief and note and recalls memories of Genevieve. After both having gone their separate ways Genevieve contacts him saying she will be in town and they should catch up.
Elias is picking up Genevieve from the airport and was going to be the perfect gentleman, although it didn't quite work out that way and became hot and steamy very quickly. Elias and Genevieve have a wonderful weekend reunion, in between her working the have some amazingly hot sex. Their farewell is cut short but Elias receiving a phone call that his father is in hospital.
A split second decision has Genevieve leaving the plane and heading to the hospital and Elias with a feeling of being followed.
Mammon has a quick introduction letting us know that it's Elias' turn to enter the crucible, and that he is tracking Genevieve's movements from afar and that he's master wants to be done with Elias' accursed clan, letting us know that there is so much more to come.
With Mammon ensuring that Qaylin has the most up to date information through hacking into various systems and you also find out an interesting twist. We hear about the funeral from Ariella, Elias' mother and learn that soon Elias will learn more of what is to come.
The book continues with other characters where you learn about the Sins of the Father and how they unfolded. In fairness writing anything else would ruin the amazing story and how it unfolds for other readers.

To be honest, I was a little skeptical about this book, since I have only read romance and erotica, and this book is a thriller.
I purchased this book after reading and thoroughly enjoying this author's poetry book, The Painted Shadows and quite frankly the wonderful cover pulled me in as well. The author's poems are so captivating that I decided to give Cain a chance, and let me tell you, ONE OF THE BEST DECICIONS I HAVE EVER MADE!!!!

How to start this review without any spoilers? Tough! ...
....Let me just say WOW!!! This book is A-mazing!!
What I love most about Cain is that you get to experience everything, all at once from suspense, mystery, love, hate, secrets, envy, rivalry, lies, second chances, love making, affection, family values, sadness, betrayal, revelations and truths. All these emotions collected together, portrayed exquisitely in a piece of art, that is this book, taking you for a journey, transporting you back to the bible times and then fast forwarding you back to the present. The love scenes between Elias and G are very passionate and loving, leaving you reading with only one hand. (Winks)

The author rewards you with literature passages and beautiful illustrations (perfectly chosen, I must add) introducing each chapter in this book, making them more exciting. The author also integrates a fusion of the traditional Cain story and his own version, a phenomenal remix, blowing your mind away and leaving you wanting more and more from Elias and G, Qaylin and the whole Cain empire.

I can't wait to follow up this story with book number two and see how each of the characters develop further, deeper.
I'm ready for this author to take me for a thrilling journey once again.

I will most definitely buy more books from Elias Raven!

I strongly recommend this book!!!

I am not exactly sure what I was expecting when I bought this book. By title I wasn't sure if it was going to lean more towards the Bible story of Cain or something completely different. My friends were discussing how good it was but giving me little details (I now know why). As I started reading the book, I soon learned I was reading a wonderful story with references to the Bible Story. The story took a bit of time to develop for me but once it did, I was captivated to the point I read into the wee hours of the morning and wouldn't of stopped when I did except I had to get a little sleep before work.

I don't do spoilers and even sitting to write this review I have stopped and started several times because everything I want to say gives away more than I think is fair to a new reader. So I will say this book does have a good love story to it; both the love of family and that of a man and his lady. The book is a suspenseful thrilling tale as well. You follow the main character, Elias Cain, as he learns not only his families epic secrets but the dark well kept secret that will threaten everything Elias believed to be it the truth. Elias comes to terms with his family duty while keeping his family and lady safe. Again that is putting it very mildly but without spoiling this truly magnificent thrilling tale, it's aptly put.

If I had to give one complaint it would be that it ended in a cliffhanger. I do HATE cliffhangers. However, this is one book when it ended, while I wanted to cuss the author for leaving me hanging, I understood his reason for doing so. Now it's just a matter of praying part 2 is due out in the very near future. If you like suspense and thrilling storylines, this is the book for your. Well Done Mr. Raven and may I add my hat is off to you for an awesome a 1st time book.
