I would like to see guidebooks have detailed maps! Asheville has a small, walkable downtown. It would be great to have a map instead of a bunch of addresses!

A great refresher of things to do in/around the Asheville area. A lot of this info is found in Frye's other Moon series of the region, so if you've read those, there may not be a ton of new info in here.

Bookmarked:

* North Carolina Arboretum for light hiking/walking and the National Native Azalea collection
* Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center
* Cataloochee
* Chimney Rock State Park
* Western Carolina University's Mountain Heritage Center
* reminder to eat at: Biscuit Head, Early Girl Eatery, Luella's BBQ (visited on past trips--highly worth it!)
* new places to try: White Duck Taco Shop, Table, Buxton Hall BBQ, Chai Pani, Vivian, Berliner Kindl (in Black Mountain)

Surprisingly, I actually did read this book from cover to cover. I feel that's pretty rare with travel books.

This summer I planned a road trip to Asheville, and this was my primary tool that I used while picking out activities and sights to see. Of course, I used sources on the internet and my handy book, but when you're stuck on a plane for seven hours, those tools aren't readily available. This was a nice book that I had stuck in my bag right before I got on the plane, thinking I wouldn't really read it. Well, I did, and I read the entire thing, at that.

It certainly gave me a bunch of ideas to write down and check out when I got home. I definitely feel like reading this book allowed the actual planning process to proceed a lot smoother.

I'll be leaving for my road trip on July 23rd, so I haven't left just yet. If you're interested in my itinerary (I'll be in the city for three days), just message me; I'm pretty proud of it!
