Dieser kurze Krimi vom Niederrhein rund um Kommissar Toppe und sein Team war recht unterhaltsam.
Im Großen und Ganzen geht es um merkwürdig fundamentalistische Katholiken, die bedauernswert einfache Beeinflussbarkeit von jungen Menschen, anachronistische Moralvostellungen der katholischen Kirche und im Gegensatz dazu (in den 90ern) moderne Moralvostellungen des Ermittlerteams.
Ein Junge wird erschlagen im Rhein aufgefunden und Toppe und sein Team tun sich recht schwer, die Hintergründe aufzudecken.
An einigen Stellen übertreiben die Autoren merkbar, wohl auch um die Spannung zu steigern, was mich gar nicht gestört hat. Was mich jedoch ein bisschen störte war, dass für mein Empfinden mehr Gewicht auf das Privatleben der Ermittler gelegt wurde als auf den eige3ntlichen Fall.
Trotzdem, eine nette Lektüre. 3 Sterne.

This short crime thriller from the Lower Rhine centered around Inspector Toppe and his team was quite entertaining.
On the whole, it is about strangely fundamentalist Catholics, the unfortunate ease with which young people can be brainwashed, the anachronistic moral values of the Catholic Church and, in contrast to this (in the 90s), the modern moral values of the investigating team.
A boy is found beaten to death in the Rhine and Toppe and his team find it very difficult to uncover the background.
In some places, the authors exaggerate noticeably, probably to increase the suspense, which didn't bother me at all. What bothered me a little, however, was that I felt more emphasis was placed on the private lives of the investigators than on the actual case.
Still, a nice read. 3 stars.

Die Krimis von Leenders/Bay/Leenders sind spannend ohne Ende -ein bisschen wie Wilsberg, nur am Niederrhein.
