"James Bond – SPECTRE: The Complete Comic Strip Collection" by Jim Lawrence presents the graphic comics version of four of Ian Fleming's James bond novels. Due to a copyright issue "Thunderball" is told in an abridged version.. That copyright mix-up led to Sean Connery's last appearance as James Bond in "Never say Never" an updated remake of the "Thunderball" movie he starred in earlier. "The Spy who Loved Me" starts out about an attempt to steal RAF Stealth Jet technology through blackmail, then moves to an insurance arson scam both of which Bond foils. In "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" Bond rescues a beautiful countess, Tracy, from her suicidal self. Bond & Traci's father, Draco, the head to the largest crime syndicate in Europe, destroy Bloefeld's, head of SPECTRE, allergen lab in the high Swiss Alps preventing the destruction of the UK's agriculture economy. Bond marries Tracy & becomes a widower on the same day at the hand of Bloefeld along with his mistress Irma Blunt. In "You Only Live Twice", Bond, melancholy over Tracy's death, is sent to Japan on an impossible task to gain access to cipher breaking technology. Bond meets with Tanaka, the head of Japan's secret service. Tanaka likes Bondsan disguises & teaches him how to disappear in Japan's culture. They make a pact, a foreigner bought a castle on a Japanese island, built a garden of death, planting it with every poisonous plant, along with adding deadly insects & fish, Japanese suicide seekers flock to the island & die. This is embarrassment to the Japanese government, they need an outsider to destroy the garden. Bond learns the owners of the castle are Bloefeld & Blunt. Tanaka hooks Bond up with a beautiful pearl diver. The two of them destroy the island but on making there escape, Bond loses his memory. This version of Fleming's novel is better than the film versions staring Connery or Craig "You Only Live Twice" & "No Time To Die". Great anthology, 5 stars

Didn't previously know there were James Bond comic strips done. I came across this and gave it a try. Very glad I did. Very enjoyable reads. Stays to the original story lines, with a different illustration perspective. Very entertaining and well done. I'll certainly get another.
